Job Overview

Simcoe Contracting and Landscaping Inc. is seeking a dedicated and experienced Foreman to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will oversee and support the operations of landscaping construction and interior renovation projects. This position requires leadership skills, physical stamina, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and organization. As a Foreman, you will work closely with management and crew members to ensure projects are completed efficiently, on time, and to the satisfaction of our clients.

Key Responsibilities

Supervise and assist with the setup, maintenance, and cleanup of job sites, ensuring a safe and organized work environment. Perform and oversee a variety of construction tasks such as digging, lifting, carrying materials, site preparation, and operating tools and equipment. Provide direction to crew members while collaborating with management to meet project deadlines. Inspect and maintain tools and equipment, ensuring they remain in safe, working condition. Enforce company safety protocols and regulatory standards to prevent accidents and injuries. Identify and resolve site issues, equipment concerns, or safety hazards, reporting them promptly to management. Ensure that all work meets company quality standards and complies with building codes and client requirements.

Mandatory Requirements

Previous Experience in Construction Roles
Candidates must have hands-on experience in labor-intensive or construction-related positions. This ensures familiarity with job site operations, physical demands, and safety practices.

Carpentry Experience/Certifications
Proficiency in carpentry is required. Candidates with certifications or proven experience in framing, finishing, or custom carpentry will be given strong preference, as carpentry is central to both interior renovation and exterior construction projects.

Landscaping & Hardscaping Experience
Prior experience with landscaping construction, including grading, interlock, retaining walls, concrete pads, fences, and deck installations, is essential. Candidates should be able to read plans, measure accurately, and deliver high-quality outdoor structures.

Interior Renovation Knowledge
Experience with framing, drywall installation, washroom and kitchen renovations, flooring, and finishing is mandatory. Candidates must be comfortable managing both rough construction and fine finishing tasks.

Physical Capability
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, work on your feet for extended periods, and handle physically demanding tasks in all weather conditions. This role requires stamina, resilience, and the ability to adapt to different job site environments.

Attention to Detail & Instruction Following
Accuracy in measuring, cutting, and assembling materials is crucial. Candidates must be able to interpret instructions, drawings, and specifications with precision to avoid costly errors.

Teamwork & Leadership Skills
Strong communication, collaboration, and leadership abilities are required. Candidates should be able to motivate team members, delegate tasks effectively, and maintain a positive work environment.

Adaptability to Outdoor Conditions
Willingness to work outdoors year-round, in both favorable and challenging weather conditions. This includes ensuring safety and productivity regardless of seasonal changes.

Valid Driver's License (Mandatory)
A valid driver's license is required for transportation to job sites across Simcoe County and surrounding areas. Candidates with clean driving records and access to their own vehicle will be prioritized.
