Job Overview

At Five Star Paving, we take pride in delivering high-quality asphalt paving and site preparation services. We are looking for a skilled and reliable Heavy Equipment Operator to join our crew. This role involves a combination of equipment operation and physical labour to support a wide range of paving and ground preparation projects.

Duties

Set accurate grades for paving and ground preparation --

strong knowledge of grades and elevations.

Operate heavy machinery including skid steers, excavators, graders, and rollers. Perform hand labour where required using rakes, shovels, and plate tamps to achieve site results. Conduct routine maintenance checks and minor repairs on equipment to ensure optimal performance. Collaborate with team members to execute project plans effectively and efficiently. Conduct site assessments and prepare equipment for operation based on project needs. Maintain accurate records of equipment usage and maintenance activities. Occasionally work on paving crew when staffing needs require.

Qualifications

Knowledge and experience in setting grades Experience operating heavy equipment (skid steers, excavators, graders, rollers) preferred. Comfortable with physical labour in outdoor environments. Strong teamwork and communication skills. Ability to perform routine equipment checks and basic maintenance. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required. Class 3 or 1 license considered an Asset Previous paving, ground prep, or construction experience considered an asset.
