Nahanni Construction Ltd. is hiring a Site Superintendent to be based at the Giant Mine Site in Yellowknife, NT. The successful candidate will work a two (2) weeks on / two (2) weeks off rotational schedule and will report to the Project Manager. The site and rotation are subject to change based on organizational requirements.
The Site Superintendent coordinates all site construction activities and supervises all field personnel as required to successfully and safely complete the project on schedule and within budget.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Review allocation of labour, materials and equipment;
Attend company project start up meeting;
Acquire thorough knowledge of project scope, drawings, specifications and schedule;
Initiate, coordinate, direct and evaluate plans, schedules and site personnel to ensure project goals are met;
Ensure all crew members are aware of and adhere to any permits, company policies and safety rules and regulations;
Provide solutions and recommendations for effectively completing tasks;
Systematically coordinate project staff to ensure project elements are delivered on schedule;
Monitor daily allocation of man hours and progress schedules;
Maintain open communication with Project Manager regarding all project matters;
Report accurate quantities for labor cost reports;
Prepare daily construction report for management
Oversee crews to ensure the efficient and timely completion of assignments;
Enforce a high standard of safety and quality for the duration of the project;
Confer with Project Manager and Field Engineer regarding percentage complete;
Attend pre-construction/construction meetings and advise Project Manager of any anticipated future concerns;
Provide technical engineering information and interpretation of plans, detail sheets and specifications for sub-trades in consultation with Engineers;
Review subcontractor and supplier invoices against field purchase orders and reports any discrepancies to Project Manager or Accounting Department;
Conduct or assigns someone to conduct daily and weekly toolbox safety meetings;
Review and approve documentation for cost-plus labour, material, and equipment (LME) on a daily basis and return documentation to Site Administrator.
REQUIREMENTS
5-7 years? experience in a supervisory role in contaminated site remediation and/or civil construction.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Knowledge of safety requirements and legislation within the construction/mining industry.
Possesses understanding of engineered drawings.
Underground civil works experience would be an asset.
Solutions oriented and problem solver.
Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
Ability and desire to work in a remote location.
