About the Position:



Reporting to the Construction Manager, the Site Superintendent is a key driver of the Construction team on site, who oversees and leads the construction process and is responsible for the execution of the construction activities within the established design, budget and schedule. They are responsible for the planning, scheduling, organizing, directing, and controlling of the day-to-day activities on the construction site to ensure a safe and successful completion of their project.

Duties and Responsibilities:


Leads and implements all aspects of the Carrington Construction Health & Safety program on site, ensuring that the requirements of the Occupational Health and safety Act are enforced. Ensure all employees adhere to company policies, procedures, best practices, and legal obligations. Resolve onsite issues and emergencies. Provide input on the overall project plan and construction schedule providing input on project site setup, project logistics, construction methods, sequencing, and resources requirements for the execution of the project plan. Assist in the development and identification of project specific risks and collaborate in the development of response strategies for identified risks. Responsible to review project drawings and specifications to identify areas of risk or conflict. Contribute to the development of the project quality plan. Responsible for the implementation and the ongoing monitoring and control of the Projects Safety Program, Project security and loss prevention. Responsible for the ongoing identification and monitoring of project risks, and to help develop strategies to respond to ongoing and emergent risks. Monitor material stock and order additional materials as required. Ensure correct cost coding for material and equipment purchasing. Develop and maintain detailed scope schedules and look ahead schedules in collaboration with the subcontractors. Chair and minute regular safety and coordination meetings with subcontractors and members of the project team. Schedule and coordinate all reviews, mock-ups, and inspections as required by the construction documents and the authority having jurisdiction. Ensure overall quality of projects meets Carrington Construction Canada's quality standard. Perform regular ongoing site inspection of subcontractor work to ensure conformance to the project plan. Plan, schedule, organize, direct and control construction projects from start to finish according to schedule, specifications and budget. Support the Project Manager in their preparation of progress reports, including progress schedules to clients. Maintain an accurate daily log of construction site operations and activities.

Qualifications:


Post-secondary education in Civil Engineering, Construction technology or related academic field. Trade ticket relevant to the construction industry. Gold Seal Certificate by Canadian Construction Association preferred. Seven (7) or more years of supervisory/leadership experience in the multi-family residential construction industry roles is required. Experience building residential townhomes following Part 9 of the building code as well as constructing townhomes that follow Part 3 of the building code and have full consultant involvement including Professional Schedules. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents, and interpret building code specifications required. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Advanced understanding of construction means, materials and methods for multi-family construction. Understanding of construction equipment use, maintenance and operation required. Comprehensive understanding of local, provincial, and federal construction regulations required. Intermediate computer competencies, specifically with Microsoft Office, preferred. Experience in Procore Project Management Software is preferred. Basic understanding of employment and safety legislation. Current safety training such as Fall protection, telehandler operation, Fall protection planning, LSE, Contractor Management, PHSM is preferred. A clean drivers abstract is required for the operation of company vehicles on public roadways.
