Job Overview



The Site Superintendent is responsible for the management and safety of Avant-Garde Construction's job sites. We are currently looking for Site Superintendents for commercial and multi-residential projects in the Fredericton, Saint John, and the Greater Moncton areas.

Position Responsibilities



Site Leadership



Communicate and enforce site rules regarding safety procedures to subcontractors, document orientation process with AGCM generated orientation cards

Facilitate contract work for subtrades:

o Be familiar with outline scopes of work

o Manage changes in project scope to ensure that the most current drawings and information is properly coordinated with on-site contractors

o Ensure that work is constructed in an orderly and deliberate manner to produce high-quality work in accordance with the project schedule

Ensure safety of job site operations

Maintain daily reports in the project log book, submit time sheets to record the site activities, and for employees or subcontractors as required for time and material work

Assemble the job site office, safety boards, and equipment requirements, maintain a neat and tidy site office and meeting room

Coordinate all required municipal inspections

Conduct and/or attend pre-construction, progress, and other project and staff meetings

Conduct and/or participate in regularly held meetings involving AGCM internal staff and external stakeholders such as owners, subcontractors, etc.

Meet with client representatives on a regular basis to discuss the status of projects, to proactively identify and resolve problems, and to ensure that the client is kept knowledgeable about the status of the work

Build and maintain positive work relationships with company management, colleagues, clients, subtrades, architects, engineers, and suppliers

Scheduling



Assist in the preparation of the project schedule

Monitor and maintain the project construction schedule on a weekly basis to ensure that the project milestone dates and overall schedule completion date is met

Manage and monitor look-ahead no less than two weeks to proactively identify issues that could lead to problems; and facilitate solutions

Technical Skills



Knowledge of construction designs, process and procedures, including reading building and site plans

Problem solving and keeping information flowing to the people involved in the project

Inform the project manager of any errors, discrepancies, or omissions on the design drawings

Establish and maintain all dimensional controls for the project including the use of third party survey and layout personnel when appropriate

Ability to manage e-mail and produce site-generated requests for information

Familiarity with using tablets such as iPads for communication and coordination

Quality Control



Maintain and enforce good construction standards and quality control

Act as primary safety representative in the field and enforce quality control policies

Ensure that 'as-built' drawings are prepared on an ongoing basis by all trades during the construction period

Coordinate and direct independent testing and inspections as required

Manage the deficiency list and project closeout process to ensure timely completion

Budget



Control and monitor labour, material, and equipment expenses

Assist in the preparation of the monthly cost forecasting summaries

Generate field purchase orders for AGCM-supplied materials based on quantity takeoffs

Qualifications



Five (5) years plus experience in a similar position

Strong oral and written communication skills

Team player, and able to establish strong working relationships with team members, clients and subcontractors

Experience with Procore and Gold Seal Certification an asset

Committed to meeting deadlines and completing projects on time

Willingness to work out of town if required

Pay: $70,000.00-$100,000.00 per year
