Description





The Site Services Superintendent is responsible for overseeing the daily operational activities at the Rook I site, ensuring all site services are executed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with company standards. This position reports directly to the Site Services Manager. The role is responsible for leading the site services teams, coordinating the activities of contractors, and overseeing the maintenance and operation of key site infrastructure. This includes the management of the camp, airstrip, accommodations, and essential utilities to ensure smooth and efficient operations across all facilities.


LOCATION
This position will be based at the Rook I site on a 2 week in/2 week out schedule. NexGen's Rook I Project Site is located approximately 155km north of La Loche, Saskatchewan.

Accommodations and meals are provided while on rotation. Travel logistics to/from site are coordinated by NexGen.###

Key Responsibilities (including but not limited to)



Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Management

Lead a safety-first culture; ensure compliance with HSE policies and procedures. Ensure compliance with all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies and site procedures. Develop and implement safe work practices, procedures, and management plans. Conduct regular safety and performance interactions with team members and contractors. Coordinate with construction, operations, security, and safety teams to ensure safe and compliant site operations. Mentor, evaluate, and support team development; manage recruitment, scheduling, and discipline with HR. Promote a respectful, accountable team culture aligned with company values; act as manager when needed.



Operations, Facilities & Logistics Management


Manage daily operations including camp, travel, logistics, and contractor coordination. Ensure timely and efficient scheduling of personnel and resources to support site operations. Oversee maintenance of all surface buildings, site electrical power generation, and fuel management to maintain safe operating levels. Direct year-round operation of roads, construction support, and snow removal. Oversee safe transportation of passengers, freight, and heavy hauling. Maintain mobile and stationary equipment to minimize downtime and maximize effectiveness. Support warehouse logistics for shipping, receiving, and inventory control of critical supplies. Maintain laydown areas and storage facilities to high safety and housekeeping standards. Assist with operational planning, scheduling, and reporting requirements. Maintain accurate cross-shift logs and complete required daily, weekly, and monthly reports.



Financial & Administrative Management


Operate within budget, monitor spending, and review invoices, accruals, and payroll submissions. Review accruals, monthly spending, and validate contractor and vendor invoices. Review and manage Labour, Equipment, and Materials (LEM) submissions and appeals. Coordinate and validate payroll submissions for management approval.



Performance & Continuous Improvement


Track metrics: payroll/invoice accuracy, contractor compliance, safety incidents, employee retention, and resource efficiency. Identify and implement opportunities for process, safety, and team improvement.



Leadership, Communication & Team Management


Lead the Site Services team and contractors to ensure smooth operation of site facilities and infrastructure. Lead cross-functional teams and coordinate with multiple departments to support seamless operations. Facilitate communication with all stakeholders, fostering collaboration and transparency. Provide mentorship, guidance, and regular performance evaluations for Site Services personnel. Deliver constructive feedback, identify training needs, and support career development aligned with organizational goals. All other duties as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise





RequiredMinimum of 8 years of progressive experience in site services, facilities, or operations management--preferably within mining, industrial, heavy civil, construction, or remote operations Demonstrated supervisory experience in an industrial, heavy civil, construction, or preferably in a mining environment. Proven leadership and coordination experience managing multidisciplinary teams and contractors in a safety-focused environment. Effective decision-making and ability to enforce operational and safety standards. Experience with power generation, road maintenance, construction, and mine site operations. Technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and piping systems. Experience with water/wastewater treatment, inventory control, and contractor oversight considered an asset. Strong understanding of workplace safety systems, environmental standards, and emergency response procedures. Strong organizational and analytical abilities in a fast-paced environment. Valid Class 5 driver's license (or equivalent). Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and capable of learning site-specific software (e.g., ERP, CMMS). Including: + Microsoft Windows - proficient in navigating and managing desktop environments.
+ Microsoft Excel - advanced skills in data tracking, reporting, and analysis.
+ Microsoft PowerPoint - capable of creating clear and professional presentations.
+ Microsoft Teams - effective use for communication, meetings, and collaboration.

PreferredPost-secondary education in Mechanical or Civil Engineering, Engineering Technology, Operations Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience) Level 1 First Aid ticket considered an asset. Leadership for Safety Excellence or similar supervisory certification considered an asset. WHMIS and Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) certifications. Experience with Nomadis software- skilled in travel and accommodation booking, roster management. Experience with Contractor Management Systems - tracking compliance, onboarding, and performance.
