The De Beers Group of Companies has an opportunity for a highly motivated and energetic individual to join the Site Services team at the Gahcho Ku\xc3\xa9 Mine site based in the Northwest Territories. Reporting to the Site Services Supervisor, this position is responsible for, the ability to safely and effectively operate equipment and take responsibility for equipment and tools provided to carry out tasks. The ideal candidate will be one who enjoys multi-tasking, is results oriented and is committed to safe working practices, striving for zero harm.

What the Role Entails:

  • Works with the team to conduct a job risk assessment and safe work plans;
  • Operates equipment in a responsible manner and ensures proper pre-use checks are completed;
  • Takes responsibility for the equipment/tools and their maintenance;
  • Inspects assigned power tools properly before use;
  • Follows occupational health and safety regulations;
  • Carries out activities while being mindful of environmental impacts;
  • Identifies safety hazards and seeks to rectify the unsafe act in a timely fashion;
  • Reports any issue that may cause potential damage to equipment or its peripherals;
  • Places all materials and equipment back to their assigned places;
  • Prepares recyclable and hazardous waste for ice road removal; and
  • Carry out a variety of tasks as assigned.
Reporting to the Site Services Supervisor, the role resides within the Site Services department. This is a site-based position working a two (2) weeks in/ two (2) weeks out rotation.

Qualifications

Requirements:
  • Valid Driver\xe2\x80\x99s license or the ability to obtain a site license;
  • 3-5 years of experience in Butt fusing HDPE pipe from 4 inch to 26 inch. required.
  • 1-3 years of experience operating mobile equipment such as skid steers, roll-off trucks.
  • Ability to stand, crouch, and kneel for long periods of time as well as manual dexterity;
  • Knowledge in Confined Space Monitor, Fire/Spark Watch, Arial/Elevated Work Platform, and Fall Arrest;
  • Ability to build productive working relationships with all departments on site;
  • Ability to take initiative and responsibility as well as be depended on;
  • Ability to organize for the day\xe2\x80\x99s task and adapt effectively and safely to changes in priorities; and
  • Ability to communicate and approach work in a professional and effective manner.
Beneficial if you have:
  • Experience or demonstrated ability in electrical, plumbing, carpentry or other applicable trade
