Job Description

Position Summary


Reporting to the Area Manager, the Seawater Site Manager is responsible for ensuring safety and effective site operations. This role involves managing the sea site team to foster a safe and positive work environment. Key responsibilities include overseeing the feeding, monitoring, inspection and basic maintenance of sea site equipment, maintaining accurate data records, and handling all general tasks related to fish husbandry. The Seawater Site Manager leads a team of Aquaculture Technicians and contractors working on-site.

Key Responsibilities:



Provide a safe daily work plan that includes productivity and maintenance within sea sites while adhering to company policies and procedures to ensure the safety of all site staff. Ensure the wellbeing of workers and salmon. This includes, but is not limited to, ensuring OHS tasks, such as Toolbox talks, SOP reviews, site inspections, etc get completed on time as required. Train, develop, mentor and coach junior team members. Manage feed-related processes including delivery, storage, sampling, feeding practices, and administration of medicated feed and treatments. Support fish health and production through health sampling, weight sampling, transfers, and harvest planning and implementation. Coordinate smolt stocking inventory and support escape prevention, predator avoidance strategies, and recycling procedures. Conduct daily system inspections, liaise with feeders, and monitor plankton levels, including response planning and maintaining plankton readiness timelines. Understand and follow all regulations during day-to-day activities (SOPs, SWPs, provincial regulations and company policies) and complete necessary paperwork. Plan and carry out daily site operations while prioritizing tasks. Communicate with management regarding feed deliveries, breakdowns, equipment required, fish health. Communicate with feeders in feed center to ensure feed strategy is correct and there are no issues with the feed system. Ensure full adherence to and compliance with all procedures and policies established by the Grieg Seafood group of companies. Understand and adhere to government regulations, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), Workplace NL and Company biosecurity rules and practices. Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities



Supports leadership by assisting in team supervision, training, oversight, and mentoring of daily operations. Ability to solve problems and multi-task. Well-developed interpersonal skills. Good verbal and written communication skills. Computer proficiency. Must be comfortable working on and around water, sometimes in challenging sea conditions. Valid Class 5 driver's license.

Training, Education, and Experience



Diploma or Degree in Aquaculture, Aquatic Resources or Fisheries Resources Management. At least three years' recent hands-on Aquaculture experience. Supervisory training and experience, and a commitment to safe work practices. Seawater-related training certificates would be an asset.

Work Schedule



7 days on followed by 7 days off. 40 hours per week.
