Summary:

Lead the execution of the overall site Business Plan for the 247k sq ft GM Edmonton Parts Distribution Centre (PDC) across all business goal categories; Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost, and Environment.

You will lead a team of salaried and hourly employees engaged in distributing service parts to GM\xe2\x80\x99s Customers across two shifts of operation (Days and Evenings). The successful candidate will be assigned primarily to the Day Shift operations with flexibility to engage in activities across both shifts as required (on a weekly basis). Travel expectation will be minimal (
10%).

  • Promote safe work practices and the use of personal protective equipment and maintain a safe/ organized working environment to achieve all Safety objectives.
  • Empower the salaried team members to take leadership roles to complete tasks.
  • Create an environment that encourages all employees to achieve their peak performance and drive high workplace of choice engagement scores.
  • Train, develop and evaluate salaried and hourly employees to effectively perform their jobs utilizing standardized work.
  • Achieve business results by creating a work environment that fosters a positive and inclusive culture that is based on feedback and recognition.
  • Achieve responsiveness and lead time objectives by applying Lean Principles
  • Achieve and maintain GMS Operations Performance Excellence (Lean)
  • Control costs through financial monitoring and achieve productivity objectives through continuous improvement activities.
  • Maintain a strong awareness of quality standards, communicate department quality goals and leverage resources to solve quality problems.
  • Drive quality performances through standardized work practices
  • Utilize statistical methods and data from voice of customer and voice of process to drive improved quality performance.
  • Participate in the selection of new employees.
  • Participate in employee relations activities and discipline procedures.
  • Utilize human resources in accordance with corporate policies and procedures and government regulations.
  • Communicate between departments and other business units to implement best practices, resolve problems and sustain consistent performance to objectives.
  • Provide a leadership role in the implementation of major PDC initiatives and projects and oversight.
  • Support CCA Growth Strategy through exceptional customer experiences.
  • Perform other administrative tasks, site representation on corporate meetings as required.

Required Skills and Experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of corporate, division and plant policies, health and safety, employee relations.
  • Demonstrated high level of interpersonal skills to effectively lead, motivate and facilitate others in group situations.
  • Proficiency in team building and ability to create an environment that allows for measured risk taking.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively organize and plan \xe2\x80\x93 demonstrated ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated high level analytical ability to assess and identify appropriate alternative courses of action for definition and resolution of problems that are unique and diverse.
  • Ability to exercise sound independent judgment.
  • Demonstrated thorough knowledge of GMS Principles (Lean).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of financial management concepts to improve costs.
Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Knowledge of warehousing operations, processes, and equipment.
  • Multi-department/ division experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of GMS (Lean).
  • Experience leading/ supervising others.
Education and Training
  • Bachelors\xe2\x80\x99 degree or equivalent training &/or equivalent experience
Minimum of 3 years of experience a Supervisor/ General Supervisor in a Warehousing / Manufacturing/ Other environment
