Position Overview Caltrax is a Calgary based full service railcar repair facility with a new location located south east of Lethbridge. From this new facility, we provide railcar repair services including cleaning and mechanical work. As a Site Lead of the Raymond Group, you will organize and assign work based on employee skill/expertise and production requirements. You will create and post daily/weekly/monthly work schedules and update the schedule as customer demands and car-flow dictate. Additionally, the Lead is responsible for providing Supervision and organizing staff training, mentorship, job shadowing, as well as ensuring safety procedures are trained, understood and followed. The Site Lead is active in employee recruitment and hiring, performance management and reviews. Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Supervise direct reports in performance of railcar repairs \xe2\x80\x93 organize and assign work to employees in order to efficiently perform repairs to rail cars, ensure employees are performing quality repairs safely and efficiently
Schedule / Plan \xe2\x80\x93 Effectively allocate labor resources in order to process repairs, coordinate movement of railcars through the department for inspection & repair to maximize efficiency
Approve daily timecards from direct reports
Manage on-site inventory and parts orders
Work closely with 3rdparty contractor to ensure prompt and accurate switching of the shop, and staging outdoor work activities
Provide training and mentoring \xe2\x80\x93 Ensure employees have the most recent work instructions and are qualified to perform the required repairs, maintain morale in the shop by addressing technician concerns
Lead accident investigations in the department and complete incident reports in coordination with Caltrax Management team and the Safety Steering Committee.
Provide disciplinary action as required in accordance with Acts, Legislations, Regulations, and Codes. (i.e., Verbal warning; Notice of censure)
Regularly interact with internal and external customers and vendors for reasons such as Audits, Customer inquiries concerning repairs, materials, procedures, and training

Excellent communication skills
Proficiency in MS Office applications

Strong leadership skills and the ability to remain calm in high stress situations
Knowledge of the industry standards and regulations
Knowledge of all proper job site health and safety policies
Positive attitude
Strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task are also necessary
Understanding of AAR regulations, customer and Caltrax specific procedures and ensure employee compliance
