Your Opportunity:

Reporting to the Care Managers, the Single Independent Living Support Worker (ILS Worker) is a member of the ambulatory, multi-disciplinary treatment team working under the direction of a clinical discipline to support individuals recovering from mental illness/addictions issues on the Assertive Community Treatment in the Edmonton Zone. The ILS Worker primarily assists the designated healthcare professional with the implementation of the client\'s treatment plan by providing client centered, goal orientated, independent living supports. The ILS Worker relays factual, timely information to the MHT which assists in the evaluation and refinement of the overall transition/recovery plan. As a vital member of the ACT team, the ILS staff member assists with the implementation of the client treatment plans and promotion of recovery by providing goal oriented independent living supports and assistance with activities of daily living (i.e., assistance with budgeting, attending physician appointments with clients, teach cooking skills etc.). Clients are most often seen in their homes or in the community. The ILS Worker must work well within a team approach; have effective communication, observation, and reporting skills, and the ability to multi-task and prioritize requests.

As a Single Independent Living Support (ILS) worker, you will be part of an interprofessional team, assisting patients (client, resident) to develop and maintain skills as identified in the care plan, associated with living independently in the community. You will provide support with preventative health care, health maintenance, quality of life, life skills coaching and connect patients to appropriate community supports. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Additional Required Qualifications:

Preferred Mental Health Aide, Personal Care Aide, or equivalent health related certificate/diploma and experience required. A strong awareness of community resources and recovery model. Ability to work well in a team and seek consultation, when necessary, must be demonstrated. Current BCLS-HCP Level C required. An excellent attendance record, reliability, and personal suitability must be demonstrated through your employment references. Preferred Qualifications:

A minimum of 2-years\' experience working with persons with a mental illness, in a community setting preferred. Strong understanding of client resources in the community, knowledge of ACT, concurrent disorders, and mental health legislation including Community Treatment Orders is an asset.
