The Simulation Technologist (Educational Laboratory Technologist II) plays a critical role in executing healthcare simulations for SHLS and external partners. This position is responsible for ensuring simulations are set up and taken down in accordance with simulation documentation, and that daily operations run smoothly. The role involves reviewing simulation documents, preparing equipment, troubleshooting, and maintaining simulation resources. The individual will also provide technical expertise in the operation and repair of simulation equipment.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft simulation documents and scenarios
  • Identify patient model and standardized patient requirements and assist patient models and standardized patients wile on-site
  • specialized equipment
  • Collaborate with other areas on preventive maintenance
  • Support the development of new and updated simulations, including virtual simulations (under supervision)
  • Provide user orientation and safety training for faculty and staff using simulation equipment
  • Set up and configure simulation spaces according to simulation documentation
  • Provide technical assistance and operational support to faculty during simulations
  • Operate various software and perform pre-simulation functionality checks
  • Conduct minor repairs of equipment
  • Manage inventory records and order supplies as needed
Skills & Abilities:
  • Intermediate understanding of simulation technology, including manikins, and medical equipment
  • Ability to operate, troubleshoot, and repair various equipment
  • Strong problem-solving skills, particularly during dynamic environments
  • Ability to follow detailed policies and procedures
  • Familiarity with medical terminology
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize time-sensitive issues
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma.
  • Diploma in related health field
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in a Simulation Centre or healthcare setting
  • Valid Driver's License required
  • Flexibility in work hours and assignments
Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services (WES), International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS) or the Comparative Education Services (CES).
Remuneration: $54,253.16 - $73,299.72 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package. (Classification - Educational Laboratory Technologist II).
This position is covered by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) Collective Agreement.
