Job Description

Headquartered in Saint John, New Brunswick, NBM Railways is comprised of three short line railroads: NB Southern Railway, Eastern Maine Railway, and Maine Northern Railway. Together, they provide the most direct rail connections between Atlantic Canada and the northeastern United States. Through partnerships with other major railways, NBM Railways cargo is delivered to destinations across North America.

NB Southern Railway is currently seeking a full-time, permanent Signal Maintainer.

Responsibilities include:

• Maintaining flasher apparatus, wiring, installation of crossing protection systems, and wayside detection systems.
• Complete regular inspections of these systems per Transport Canada regulations
• Trouble shooting any problems with circuitry, wiring, etc. related to railway crossings.
• Participating in crossing upgrade projects
• Some physical labor required in maintaining crossings (digging/painting/brush cutting/etc.).
• High commitment to safe working procedures while adhering to all regulations and company procedures.

Education Requirements/Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of physics, electricity, reading circuitry/blueprints and the use of meters is essential.
• Post secondary education in an electrical or related field is an asset.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Valid Driver\xe2\x80\x99s license.
• Must be able to perform physical work outdoors.
• Must be flexible with working hours, including evenings and weekends.
• This position is part of scheduled \xe2\x80\x9con call\xe2\x80\x9d rotation.
• Must be able to travel to various locations and be able to cross the border.
