About the Role
We are hiring a
senior-level Shop Supervisor / Foreman
to take ownership of daily operations on the workshop floor and grow in this position towards senior management in a 3-5 year timeline. This role is responsible for
shop upkeep, team supervision, and production coordination
, ensuring that fabrication standards are met with consistency and efficiency.
You will work closely with the
Operations Manager
, acting as the key point of accountability in the shop -- managing workflows, enforcing safety and quality standards, and keeping the fabrication team on schedule for both production & project delivery as well as shop maintenance, upkeep and required disciple for a well-run high-performance fabrication shop.
This is a full-time position starting as a 3-month probationary contract, with the potential to transition into a permanent leadership role.
Key Responsibilities
Shop Supervision & Team Leadership
Oversee day-to-day operations on the shop floor
Supervise junior fabricators and assign tasks based on production priorities
Ensure junior staff stay on schedule and meet project deadlines
Hold team members accountable to safety protocols, SOPs, and quality standards
Participate in
hiring and training
of new fabrication staff
Foster a safe, respectful, and productive work environment
Shop Upkeep, Safety & Equipment Maintenance
Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient shop layout
Create and enforce daily/weekly checklists for workspace cleanliness, inventory levels, and tool readiness
Schedule and perform regular equipment checks and maintenance (woodworking, CNC, hand tools, etc.)
Manage material flow, tool tracking, and workspace ergonomics
Production Planning & Coordination
Translate production schedules into daily shop tasks
Coordinate with the Logistics and Operations Manager to confirm materials, lead times, and job feasibility
Monitor and report on job progress, material usage, and team efficiency
Ensure all projects are delivered on time and meet internal quality benchmarks
Hands-On Fabrication (as needed)
Be available at all levels of work to make sure projects are delivered on-time
Assist with complex builds, custom projects, and QA
Operate woodworking tools, CNC, and light metalworking equipment (training provided if needed)
Support sanding, assembly, wiring, packaging, and finishing when required
What We're Looking For
5+ years in a supervisory or foreman role
, managing small teams in a production or fabrication setting
7+ years hands-on experience
in woodworking or mixed-material fabrication (lighting, architectural millwork, or custom fabrication is a plus)
Demonstrated ability to lead by example, hold team members accountable, and maintain a safe, organized shop
Experience managing equipment maintenance, safety compliance, and inventory
Strong communication skills and the ability to coordinate across departments
Experience hiring, training, and mentoring junior staff
Detail-oriented, reliable, and solution-focused
Bonus Skills (Not Required, But Beneficial):
Experience with CNC machines, Fusion 360, or laser cutting
Familiarity with low-voltage wiring or lighting assembly
Compensation & Employment Details
Pay: Up to $32/hour based on experience
Hours: Monday-Friday (overtime and weekend availability will be required)
Status: Payroll employee, WSIB covered
