Leavens Volkswagen is hiring a Shop Production Manager




#

This role is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the automotive service shop, ensuring maximum productivity, efficiency, and quality of work. It also involves has accountability for

managing technician performance, maintaining shop conditions and driving process improvements and fostering a positive, results-oriented team environment.

Responsibilities:




#

Shop Operations & Productivity:

+ #

Optimize shop loading and job distribution to maximize productivity and minimize downtime.

+ #

Maintain a clear understanding of technician productivity metrics


+ #

Manage and record technician comebacks to ensure quality repairs and continuous improvement.


+ #

Oversee cleanup, reconditioning, and retail detailing processes to maintain high standards.

Technician Support & Development:

+ #

Provide coaching and support to technicians in the areas of warranty, video submissions and sales techniques.

+ #

Facilitate technician training and ensure alignment with current Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) and manufacturer updates.


+ #

Conduct regular quality checks on all technicians' work to ensure repair integrity and return condition of vehicles.


+ #

Inspect completed Repair Orders (ROs) for accuracy, quality, and adherence to dealership standards.

Leadership & Team Engagement:

+ #

Host regular technician huddles in collaboration with the Service Manager to align the team and address priorities.

+ #

Create accountability through consistent monitoring, feedback, and scheduled performance meetings with technicians.


+ #

Inject fun into the shop environment through programs, contests, and incentives to boost morale and engagement.


+ #

Drive Customer Experience Survey (CES) results by coaching technicians on customer-facing responsibilities.

Process Improvement & Efficiency:

+ #

Act as a driver of efficiencies, proactively identifying and implementing opportunities to improve shop workflows.

+ #

Maintain keen knowledge of TSBs, bulletins, and warranty processes to guide technicians and ensure compliance.


+ #

Manage the closing of Repair Orders (ROs) with the Service Manager to ensure accuracy and timely completion.


+ #

Assist with unsold job follow-ups to maximize service revenue opportunities.


#

Shop Management:

+ #

Ensure shop conditions and cleanliness meet dealership standards at all times.

+ #

Schedule technician vacations appropriately, accounting for seasonal workload demands.


+ #

Oversee quality control processes and ensure all repairs meet or exceed customer and manufacturer expectations.

Qualifications:




#

Proven experience in automotive repair or service management, preferably in a dealership environment.

#

Excellent leadership and coaching skills with a focus on team development and accountability.

#

Familiarity with Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs), manufacturer updates, and service best practices.

#

Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.

#

Positive attitude with a knack for fostering a fun, collaborative, and productive work environment.

#

Proficiency in dealership management software and tools (e.g., RO systems, CES tracking).
