or an experienced technician with strong leadership skills, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a proven track record of supervising shop operations in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Shop Operations & Workflow
Oversee day-to-day operations of the truck and trailer repair shop.
Prioritize and schedule repair orders to ensure efficient workflow and minimal downtime.
Coordinate diagnostic work, repairs, inspections, and preventative maintenance.
Ensure all work meets company standards, OEM specifications, and Alberta safety regulations.
Leadership & Staff Management
Supervise and support technicians, apprentices, and shop staff.
Provide hands-on technical assistance when required.
Train, mentor, and conduct performance evaluations for shop employees.
Promote a positive safety culture and lead daily/weekly safety meetings.
Customer Relations
Communicate with customers regarding estimates, timelines, repair recommendations, and approvals.
Provide professional and timely updates on work progress.
Handle escalated customer concerns and maintain strong client relationships.
Administrative & Compliance
Manage work orders, inspection reports, parts requisitions, and shop documentation.
Ensure compliance with Alberta CVIP regulations and industry standards.
Work with suppliers and vendors for parts ordering and inventory control.
Monitor shop KPIs including productivity, efficiency, and budget targets.
Equipment & Facility Management
Ensure shop tools, equipment, and diagnostic devices are maintained and calibrated.
Oversee shop cleanliness, organization, and safe working conditions.
QualificationsRequired
Certified
Heavy Duty Equipment Technician (HET)
,
Truck & Transport Mechanic
, or equivalent experience.
Minimum
5+ years of experience
in truck/trailer repair, including diagnostics and hands-on troubleshooting.
Previous supervisory or shop management experience.
Strong knowledge of diesel engines, trailer systems, electrical, hydraulic, and air brake systems.
Familiarity with Alberta CVIP program requirements.
Excellent communication, leadership, and customer service skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred
Experience with fleet maintenance programs or dealership service operations.
Proficiency with shop management software (e.g., Mitchell, Fullbay, Fleetio, etc.).
Valid Class 1 or 3 driver's licence (asset).

Pay: $30.00-$50.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
