Shop Manager
to join our millwork manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be experienced in various aspects of millwork manufacturing and familiar with the materials required for production. The ideal candidate would have experience managing a group and be mechanically inclined.
What You Will Do...
Reporting to the General Manager, the Shop Manager is responsible for providing a range of hands-on production tasks and planning. The supervisor will be responsible for coordinating daily production activities to maximize productivity and minimize cost while maintaining quality and safety. The supervisor will be responsible for production scheduling, workplace safety, quality control, and cost management.
Job Duties
Schedule daily work plans for hourly employees
Train, coach, develop and motivate employees
Verify timecard entries by employees for bi-weekly hourly payroll
Ensure Schramm's Safety program is adhered to by all employees
Ensure staff adheres to established manufacturing processes
Inspect manufactured products for quality workmanship
Purchasing of materials for manufacturing products
Coordinate shipping of finished product to jobsite
Occasional site visits to address any productions issues that arise during install process
Communicate with General and Office Manager with concerns, shortages and delayed deliveries
Work with Office Manager on recruitment and selection process
Conduct probationary reviews with shop employees
Monitor and evaluate the performance of shop employees to ensure high quality products are produced in a timely manner
Performs other duties as required or assigned
What Qualities a Candidate Must Possess...
5+ years of experience in manufacturing production environment
Minimum 2+ years of experience in management or supervisory role with direct reports
Exceptional understanding of production processes
Mechanical aptitude is required
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. on a regular basis
Ability to multi-task while maintaining a high level of accuracy
Effective communication skills
Intermediate computer skills
What Qualities a Candidate Should Possess...
Experience in
custom cabinetry or millwork production
. Familiarity with
edge banding and panel processing equipment
. Forklift or material-handling experience (asset).
