Position Summary
The Shop Manager plays a key leadership role within our organization by providing hands-on technical expertise, coordinating shop operations, and mentoring technicians. This position is responsible for overseeing the overall management of the shop, ensuring work is completed safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards. The Shop Manager acts as a vital link between management and technicians, offering guidance, motivation, and clear communication throughout all stages of projects.
Key Responsibilities
Organize, supervise, lead, and train employees to complete projects within established timelines.
Oversee and verify deliveries and receivables.
Review and discuss work orders with management daily, providing regular project updates.
Individually discuss work orders with technicians as needed to clarify scope, sequencing, and approach.
Monitor work orders and technician progress throughout the day to ensure work is proceeding as planned.
Provide technical direction, troubleshooting, and solutions to technicians; follow through on technical issues and problem-solve with technicians and customers.
Ensure service technicians are productive and meeting scheduled timeframes.
Provide technical expertise and support to customers over the phone.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment; ensure tools and equipment are in safe working condition and report safety concerns to management.
Manage inventory control and stock replenishment.
Conduct employee performance reviews and support technician development.
Foster a positive, collaborative, and motivated team environment.
Requirements
Minimum of 5 years of residential glazing experience.
Previous experience in a supervisory or management role.
Strong technical understanding of residential and commercial construction, including building codes, trade sequencing, and best building practices.
Proven ability to problem-solve and manage complex, detail-oriented projects.
Excellent verbal communication and active listening skills.
Strong time management and organizational skills.
Ability to work respectfully and effectively with diverse individuals.
Comfortable working in a team environment with minimal supervision.
Demonstrated ability to motivate and coach others using effective leadership and management skills.
Customer-focused mindset with the ability to respond promptly to customer needs.
Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with customers and colleagues.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.).
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $75,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
