The Position:



Reporting to the Shop Manager, this position is responsible for the daily activities on the shop floor, including crating, packaging, and supporting various shop roles. Successful candidates will rotate through different labourer positions and assist with order fulfillment, shop cleanliness, and maintenance.

Primary responsibilities include picking and packing orders, sorting and labeling products, and supporting the shop team across various departments as needed. The role requires maintaining an organized and clean workspace, ensuring materials and finished products are handled efficiently and safely.

This position involves physically demanding tasks such as lifting, loading and unloading machines, moving materials, and maintaining tidy, well-organized work areas. Candidates must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and be flexible to take on a variety of duties to support overall shop operations.

The Tasks:



Support daily shop operations by rotating through labourer duties including crating, packaging, and general shop assistance. Pick, pack, sort, and label products accurately based on order requirements. Read and interpret work orders to ensure correct handling and preparation of materials and finished products. Load and unload materials and finished goods using proper manual handling techniques or lifting equipment where applicable. Move raw materials, components, and finished goods to and from storage, staging, and production areas. Carefully crate and pack final products for shipping, ensuring all items are secure and properly protected. Track material movement and inventory levels, alerting the team of low stock or discrepancies. Prepare materials for upcoming jobs and ensure appropriate materials are available for production schedules. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the shop floor, storage areas, and workstations to support a safe and efficient environment. Comply with workplace safety protocols including WHMIS, OH&S and internal company procedures. Operate shop equipment and tools safely and responsibly. Support the shop team in various roles as needed to ensure workflow continuity. Perform regular checks on equipment and assist with basic maintenance or reporting of issues. Other duties as assigned by the Shop Manager.

The Qualifications and Requirements

:

Previous experience (1-2 years) in a shop or manufacturing environment is preferred. Forklift experience is an asset, though not required. Steel toe footwear. Physically capable of performing repetitive heavy lifting (up to 50+ pounds). Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy. Demonstrates a positive attitude and adaptability to perform various tasks as needed. Consistent and dependable attendance with a solid work ethic. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, physically demanding setting.
