Role Overview



We are seeking a Shop Foreman to lead our production team and ensure the smooth, efficient operation of our workshop. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with strong leadership and organizational skills. The Shop Foreman will oversee a team of cabinetmakers, finishers, equipment operators, apprentices, and shippers--driving productivity, quality, and safety across all shop activities.

Key Responsibilities



Leadership & Team Development



Plan, schedule, and prioritize work orders to meet deadlines and budget requirements. Assign tasks according to team skill sets and project needs. Supervise, train, and mentor team members, with a strong emphasis on apprentice development. Provide regular feedback, coaching, and performance evaluations. Foster a respectful, collaborative, and accountable workplace culture.

Shop Operations



Oversee daily shop activities to ensure efficient and safe production. Review and interpret shop drawings and project specifications. Establish and maintain shop schedule and daily tasks. Track shop team's performance and report to General Manager. Work closely with the Project Manager and Design Manager to align output with project requirements. Manage material, tool, and equipment inventory; ensure proper tracking and replenishment. Promote and implement 3S practices and Standard Operating Procedures.

Quality Control



Conduct quality checks to ensure all work meets specifications and industry standards (AWMAC/NAAWS). Actively minimize rework through proactive planning and quality oversight.

Administration & Compliance



Provide regular production updates and reports. Participate in production meetings, toolbox talks, and safety committee activities. Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations.

Qualifications



Proven leadership experience in a millwork, cabinetry, or woodworking environment. Strong knowledge of woodworking processes, techniques, and materials. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications. Effective leadership, communication, and team-building skills. Commitment to safety, efficiency, and quality. Familiarity with AWMAC/NAAWS standards is an asset.

Physical Requirements



Ability to work independently and collaboratively as required. Comfort with prolonged standing, walking, crouching, or kneeling. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs; occasionally more with assistance.

Position Details



Compensation: $35-$45/hr (based on experience and qualifications)
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $35.00-$45.00 per hour

Expected hours: 80 per week

Work Location: In person
