ROLE

The Shop Assistant is responsible for assisting Mechanics in the maintenance and repair of vehicles and heavy equipment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist in repairing and maintaining trucks and heavy equipment. Perform vehicles or equipment services such as refueling, oil changes, lubrication, tire repair, washing, checking fluid levels, servicing batteries, and inspecting and/or repairing hoses, belts, lights and exhaust systems. Use a variety of tools and equipment to fix and replace parts on vehicles/heavy equipment.
oPerform spotting for vehicles or heavy equipment as needed.

Perform yard maintenance and organize when needed. Perform general housekeeping duties. Note: In addition to these duties personnel are required to carry out such other duties as may be reasonably required in order to support the objectives of the company.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS Qualifications

Valid Class 5 Driver's License. H2S Alive, First Aid, TDG, WHMIS & CSO are requirements to job.
Experience

Experience in repairing vehicles and equipment preferable. Skills and Knowledge Knowledge of truck and equipment safety preferred. Knowledge of workplace safety requirements and procedures preferred. Knowledge of equipment maintenance and storage procedures preferred. Knowledge of equipment cleaning standards and procedures preferred. Knowledge of handling hazardous materials and industry waste preferred. Mechanical aptitude and interest.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS The Shop Assistant reports to the Shop Manager. The position has limited supervisory duties.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00-$25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
