The Shipping Supervisor is responsible for managing the overall shipping department operations, including supervising a team of shipping employees, implementing process improvements, ensuring accurate and timely deliveries, and maintaining strong communication with other departments. This position will oversee shipping workflows, improve efficiency, and drive safety while ensuring that customer expectations are met.
Key Responsibilities:
Implement New Processes:
Analyze and identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance the efficiency of shipping operations and minimize costs. Implement and monitor new systems and strategies to improve workflow and performance.
Team Coaching & Training:
Coach, train, and develop both new and existing employees to ensure they are fully knowledgeable and efficient in their roles. Provide ongoing feedback and support to drive team performance and growth.
Delivery Schedule Creation:
Develop and maintain a daily shipping schedule to ensure all deliveries are on time. Adjust schedules as necessary based on production timelines and order volume.
Communication & Coordination:
Act as a liaison between the shipping, production, and customer service teams to ensure the timely and accurate fulfillment of customer orders. Collaborate to address issues or delays, ensuring customer satisfaction.
Office & Software Proficiency:
Utilize Office applications, including Excel and Word, to create shipping reports, track performance, and maintain shipping records. Use other necessary software tools for order tracking and inventory management.
Oversee Shipping Operations:
Supervise and manage all aspects of the shipping process, including order picking, packing, and dispatching. Ensure that all processes are carried out efficiently and in accordance with company policies and industry standards.
Monitor Supply Movement:
Oversee the movement of materials and products between the shipping and production departments, ensuring the timely and accurate flow of goods for both outgoing shipments and production needs.
Maintain Shipping Records:
Ensure the accuracy and organization of shipping logs and documentation, such as packing slips, bills of lading, invoices, and other shipping-related paperwork.
Safety & Continuous Improvement:
Prioritize workplace safety, ensuring all team members follow safety protocols and procedures. Drive continuous improvement initiatives aimed at improving efficiency, safety, and quality in shipping operations.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent (Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred).
Proven experience in shipping, logistics, or warehouse operations, with supervisory experience preferred.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Ability to analyze and solve problems effectively.
Knowledge of shipping and safety regulations.
Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
Forklift certification (if required) and other relevant certifications.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry up to [weight limit] lbs.
