Hypercoat Downing Ltd. is seeking an
experienced Shipping Supervisor
to lead and manage our shipping and receiving department. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership skills, hands-on logistics experience, and a solid understanding ofDangerous Goods regulations
, as most of our materials are paints, coatings, and chemicals.This role oversees a team of 5 6 employees in a
20,000 sq. ft. warehouse
with three shipping docks, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient handling of all incoming and outgoing goods.Key Responsibilities:
Supervise daily
shipping and receiving operations
, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with regulations. Lead a team of 5 6 employees, providingtraining, direction, and performance management
. Oversee thepackaging, labeling, and documentation
of hazardous materials and dangerous goods shipments. Ensure compliance withTDG (Transportation of Dangerous Goods)
,WHMIS
, and other applicable safety standards. Coordinate shipments withcouriers, freight companies, and trucking services
, ensuring on-time delivery. Manage and optimize use oftow motors, material handling equipment, and dock operations
. Verifyshipping documents, BOLs, and inventory records
for accuracy. Collaborate with production, inventory control, and purchasing teams to streamline logistics flow. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse environment in compliance with company and regulatory requirements. Identify opportunities forprocess improvements
in shipping and receiving efficiency.Qualifications & Experience:
Minimum
5+ years of experience
inshipping, receiving, or warehouse supervision
, ideally in anindustrial or chemical manufacturing environment
. Provenleadership and team management
experience. Strong knowledge ofDangerous Goods handling, labeling, and documentation
. Familiarity withpaint, coating, or chemical materials
considered a strong asset. Experience withtow motors, pallet jacks, and material handling equipment
. Understanding ofcourier and trucking logistics
, packaging requirements, and legal shipping documentation. Strong organizational and communication skills, with attention to detail and safety. * Ability to work independently and make sound operational decisions.
