Position Title:

Shipping & Receiving Operative

Reports To:

Warehouse & Logistics Manager

Position Summary:

The Shipping & Receiving Operative plays a key role in ensuring the accurate, timely, and safe handling of incoming and outgoing goods. This role involves preparing shipments, receiving deliveries, maintaining accurate records, and supporting efficient warehouse operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Receive incoming shipments: unload trucks, verify contents against packing slips, and inspect materials for quality and accuracy. Prepare outgoing shipments, including picking, packing, labeling, and documentation according to company and customer requirements. Ensure proper use of shipping systems (e.g., couriers, freight carriers, internal ERP). Maintain accurate inventory records by logging all shipments and receipts. Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment safely and efficiently. Organize and maintain warehouse and storage areas to ensure a clean, safe, and efficient workspace. Assist with cycle counts, stock replenishment, and general inventory control. Communicate with internal teams (production, sales, customer service) to coordinate shipping priorities. Follow all health & safety procedures in compliance with company policies and Ontario legislation. Perform other related warehouse duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills:

High school diploma or equivalent. 2-3 years of experience in shipping, receiving, or warehouse operations (manufacturing environment an asset). Valid forklift license or willingness to be trained and certified. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation. Good organizational and time management skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Basic computer skills (shipping software, MS Office, ERP systems preferred). Ability to lift up to lbs and perform physical tasks in a warehouse environment.
