Shipping Assistant and Delivery Driver
_. If you have experience working with electronics parts, experience in ERP systems, Excel and Word, know the city landscape well, have experience driving a 5 ton cube van, a proven, clean driving record, and enjoy structured work that relies on your keen attention to detail, we want to hear from you! Monday to Friday 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, reports to the Shipping Lead Hand
JOB SUMMARY
The Shipping Assistant supports the day-to-day operations of the shipping department by preparing, packaging, labeling, and coordinating outgoing shipments. This role ensures orders are fulfilled accurately, on time, and in accordance with company and carrier requirements.
The Delivery Driver is responsible for safely and efficiently transporting goods to our customers or picking up product from customers and vendors. This position requires excellent driving skills, customer service skills, organization, and adherence to all traffic and safety regulations.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Shipping
Prepare, package, and label items for shipment according to order specifications
Verify accuracy of outgoing shipments against invoices or shipping documents
Create and print shipping labels and documentation (FedEx, UPS, USPS, etc.)
Use of company ERP System, entering data accurately for billing purposes
Operate scale, pallet jacks, forklift, packing material machine or other material-
handling equipment safely
Ensure product is shipped on time according to customer due date
Ship product within and outside of North America, using proper shipping methods, and ensuring all paperwork (shippers) and customs papers are filled out properly before leaving the facility
Load and unload delivery trucks by manual lift or forklift
Other duties as assigned
Delivery Driver
Inspect vehicle before and after trips to ensure safety and cleanliness
Operate Delivery Van in a safe and courteous manner
Maintain mileage and delivery logs, and fuel records
Verify the accuracy of delivery orders and obtain required signatures or proof of delivery
Follow deliver schedules, routes and dispatch instructions
Ensure deliveries or pick ups are loaded safely and securely, and delivered to assigned destinations in a timely manner
Ensure that product is appropriately packaged and protected for delivery, and all goods are handled with care to prevent damage during transportation
Report vehicle maintenance needs promptly to manager
Maintain the general organization and cleanliness of IMS's delivery truck, inside and out
Other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Shipping
Team player who communicates effectively with co-workers, customers, vendors and couriers on a daily basis
Intermediate computer skills and ability to work in an ERP system, Office, Excel, and Shipping Software
Excellent time management and organizational skills. Strong attention to details to ensure accurate counts of shipped product and data entry into the computer systems at IMS Note: this is an extremely important part of the job Knowledge of shipping codes for national and international shipping and ability to fill out proper paperwork with accuracy
Must be able to speak, read, and write fluent English
The ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods of time - must be physically fit
Certified Forklift Operator
Shipping experience preferred
Delivery Driver
Valid Class 5 Drivers license with a clean driving abstract and insurability by IMS's insurance company, solid driving skills, knowledge of City of Calgary streets and routes
High school diploma or equivalent
Proven experience as a delivery driver or similar role
Excellent time management and organizational skills
Ability to lift, carry, and move packages up to 50 lbs using pallet jack or forklift
Good communication and customer service skills
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Shipping
Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment, which includes a certain degree of exposure to various chemicals and fumes. Work can involve lifting of materials and product up to 50 lbs. and requires frequent carrying of product up and down stairs. May also require employee to stoop, kneel, or crouch. Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment and safety training to operate.
Delivery Driver
Working conditions are normal for manufacturing environment where shipments will be taken from either IMS Electronics or IMS Metal, by driver to be delivered, or shipments that will be picked up at another location to bring back to IMS Electronics or IMS Metal. Therefore, a certain amount of the daily schedule will be driving in all weather conditions, on a few dedicated routes on city roads. Routes are determined by customer drop off or vendor pick up.

The Shipping Department at IMS is not a large warehouse environment. If you are looking for a warehouse position, this is not it*. We are a small to mid-sized manufacturing firm, that ships electronic products to our customers locally, within Canada, or internationally. Candidates must provide a drives abstract and be approved by IMS's insurance provider before an offer of employment will be given to the candidate.
Those who apply should have their own transportation and be able to arrive to work on time. Bus routes are limited in the early morning and late evening hours.
