Job Summary


The Shipping & Receiving Supervisor ensures the smooth flow of materials, equipment, and supplies across Kehoe Marine Construction's yard, shop, and project sites. This hybrid role combines hands-on physical work with administrative responsibilities, including inventory control, documentation in the ERP system, and coordination of shipments.

The Supervisor is organized, detail-oriented, and proactive--balancing system accuracy and communication with practical involvement in shipping and receiving. Leading by example, they support crews with the resources needed to keep projects moving efficiently, maintain safety and compliance, and safeguard company assets.

Primary Responsibilities



Shipping & Receiving



Receive deliveries and verify materials against purchase orders and packing slips. Enter data into ERP system (Acumatica) for accurate record keeping. Monitors low stock inventory levels, anticipates shipping times for key materials and notifies Procurement department in advance for ordering. Works with field staff to prepare daily material requirements for associated jobs. Maintains records after distribution. Prepare outgoing shipments including packaging, documentation, and scheduling with carriers. Ensure proper labeling, storage, and handling of materials to prevent damage or loss.

Inventory & ERP Management



Maintain accurate, real-time inventory records in the ERP system. Conduct regular cycle counts and assist with annual inventory audits. Track movement of materials between yard, shop, and project sites. Ensure all material usage and returns from job sites are recorded accurately.

Yard & Equipment Coordination



Organize and maintain yard storage areas for organization and safety. Coordinate movement of equipment, supplies, and tools in/out of the yard. Assists with preparing materials for upcoming jobs and checking returned equipment for condition. Support crews with loading/unloading of trucks and trailers.

Vendor & Carrier Coordination



Liaise with suppliers, couriers, and freight companies to coordinate shipments and deliveries Schedule pickups and ensure shipping documentation is accurate and compliant. Communicate proactively with vendors regarding order status or discrepancies.

Safety & Compliance



Promote and enforce a strong safety culture in compliance with Health & Safety Act regulations and COR Standards Conduct regular site safety inspections, toolbox talks, and incident reporting. Conducts workplace and equipment inspections as required Ensure environmental standards and company safety protocols are upheld.

Management



Supervises an manages yard staff, providing training and guidance Manages warehouse and inventory operations, ensuring efficient organization and secure storage Assign and direct daily tasks for yard staff to meet schedules and priorities. Train, coach, and support team members to ensure accuracy, safety, and efficiency. Monitor workflow and quality of shipping/receiving activities, correcting issues as needed. Coordinate with Project Managers to align inventory with project needs. Foster teamwork, accountability, and clear communication Ensures best practices and layout design of warehouse to improve workflow.

Working Conditions



Primarily yard/shop-based with regular exposure to outdoor weather conditions. Standard hours (6:30AM to 4:00PM) extended hours as required Frequent lifting, bending, and carrying of materials (up to 50 lbs). Use of forklifts, skid steers, and other material-handling equipment

Education & Experience



High school diploma or equivalent required 2+ years of experience in shipping/receiving, warehouse, or inventory management role required 1 - 3 years experience in a lead or supervisory role, with proven ability to direct work and train staff Experience with safe operation of construction equipment a significant asset Strong communication skills to provide clear direction and feedback. Experience using ERP systems for inventory control preferred Forklift/Material Handling certification, or willingness to obtain required Valid G Drivers' License with clean driving record required MEWP (Mobile Elevated Work Platforms) Certification an asset, or willingness to obtain

Skills & Requirements



Strong organizational and time-management skills with a strong attention to detail. Proficiency with ERP systems Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Physically fit and able to safely lift (up to 50 lbs) and move heavy materials. Exposure to all elements - summer heat, rain, cold temperatures, ice, wind, etc. Comfortable working on/near water
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $25.00-$32.00 per hour
