Job Description

West-Wood Industries manufactures high quality, custom wood windows and doors, sold throughout Canada and the United States under the brand name Norwood Windows & Doors. We mill our own wood onsite and are proud of our quality products.

Our facility has over 250,000 sq ft of floor space spread across six buildings where we transform raw lumber into custom doors and windows.

Shipping and Receiving



We are looking for someone experienced in Shipper and Shunter to join our team. As a key member of our logistics team, you will be responsible for assisting in managing incoming and outgoing products, ensuring the accuracy of shipments, on-time performance and adhering to company policies and procedures including safety practices. Our products are not small, and are not wrapped on pallets for transport or moved from place to place with forklifts. The windows and doors are hand bombed onto trailers by the shipping team, much like a moving company.

Responsibilities:



Shipping:

Preparing outgoing products for shipment by packing items securely, labelling packages accurately, and effectively loading trailers to protect products from damage during transport. All completed door and window units are hand bombed onto the trailers by the shipping team. This requires heavy lifting and physical fitness. The products being loaded are not wrapped on pallets or moved with forklifts.

Receiving:

Receiving incoming shipments, assisting with, or shunting products between buildings, verifying contents against purchase orders, packing slips, and manifests. Inspect deliveries for damage, discrepancies, or defects, and report any issues to appropriate personnel.

Quality Control:

Implement quality control measures to ensure the accuracy and integrity of shipped and received goods. Perform visual inspections and quality checks to identify any issues or discrepancies and take corrective actions as needed.

Safety and Compliance:

Adhere to safety guidelines and protocols to prevent accidents, injuries, or damage to goods. Follow proper handling procedures for hazardous materials or fragile items. Stay informed about relevant regulations and compliance requirements related to shipping and receiving operations.

Requirements:



High school diploma or equivalent Proven experience in shipping, receiving and shunting Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling shipments and inventory. Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team. Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in handling and storing goods. Availability to work overtime. Ability to lift and move heavy objects, as well as stand, walk, or bend for extended periods. Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite and Excel (an asset)
