Since 2000, Altima Cabinet Works Ltd. has been a locally owned and operated custom cabinet manufacturer located in Winnipeg, Manitoba. We provide quality cabinetry and millwork to a wide range of clients and customers both locally, across Canada and the United States.

Job Summary



The Shipper's Assistant plays a crucial role in ensuring the accurate and efficient movement of goods from the manufacturing facility to customers or job sites. This position involves preparing shipments, coordinating with logistics teams, and maintaining compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities



Shipping Operations



Assist in preparing goods for shipment, including packaging, labeling, and securing items to prevent damage during transit. Verify shipping documents such as invoices, packing slips, and bills of lading to ensure accuracy. Load and unload goods onto trucks, trailers, or other transportation vehicles using forklifts, pallet jacks, or by hand. Coordinate with the shipping team to prioritize and process orders based on deadlines and customer requirements.

Inventory and Documentation



Ensure that all outgoing shipments match order specifications and inventory records. Maintain accurate records of shipped items, tracking numbers, and delivery schedules. Conduct regular inspections of shipping materials and inventory to ensure sufficient stock levels of packaging supplies.

Quality Control



Inspect products before packaging to ensure they meet quality standards and are free of defects. Report any discrepancies or damages to the Shipping Supervisor immediately.

Team Collaboration



Work closely with the production, warehouse, and logistics teams to streamline shipping processes. Communicate with drivers and logistics partners to ensure timely pickups and deliveries.

Safety and Compliance



Follow all safety guidelines for handling and transporting goods, including hazardous materials if applicable. Ensure compliance with company policies, as well as local and international shipping regulations.

Qualifications and Skills



Education

: High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience

: Previous experience in a shipping, logistics, or warehouse role is preferred.

Technical Skills

: Familiarity with shipping software and logistics systems is an advantage. Basic knowledge of inventory management systems. Forklift certification (preferred but not required).

Physical Requirements

: Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 50 lbs). Standing, bending, and walking for extended periods.

Soft Skills

: Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Effective communication and teamwork abilities. Time management skills to meet tight deadlines.

Working Conditions



Primarily in a manufacturing and warehouse environment. Exposure to varying temperatures, noise levels, and equipment. May require overtime or weekend shifts during peak periods.

Pay: $35,000.00-$37,500.00 per year
