The Shipper/Receiver is responsible for executing all day-to-day shipping and receiving activities, including loading/unloading materials, verifying shipments, preparing goods for transport, and maintaining accurate documentation. This role works closely with the Shipping Supervisor/Planner, Warehouse, and Production teams to ensure shipments are completed safely, on time, and in compliance with company standards. The Shipper/Receiver also assists with packing, crating, and staging materials to support smooth operations and prevent last-minute disruptions.
Key Responsibilities
Shipping Execution
Pick, stage, and prepare outgoing shipments according to daily and weekly schedules.
Load and unload trucks safely, following company and site-specific requirements.
Ensure all shipments are packed and secured properly (crates, skids, special packing).
Label and document outgoing shipments accurately.
Receiving Duties
Receive, unload, and inspect incoming goods, materials, and equipment.
Verify packing slips, quantities, and condition against purchase orders.
Report damages, shortages, or discrepancies immediately.
Organize and store incoming goods in designated warehouse areas.
Documentation & Communication
Maintain accurate records of shipping and receiving transactions.
Provide signed bills of lading, packing slips, and other required paperwork to the Shipping Supervisor/Planner.
Communicate delays, issues, or material shortages promptly.
Coordination & Support
Assist with packing, crating, and preparing goods per shipping requirements.
Support warehouse inventory management, including cycle counts and stock organization.
Work closely with the Shipping Supervisor/Planner to align daily activities with the overall shipping schedule.
Safety & Compliance
Follow all health and safety procedures during loading/unloading and material handling.
Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment safely (valid license required where applicable).
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shipping/receiving area.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
On-time and accurate shipment execution (%).
Accuracy of receiving records (discrepancies per month).
Packing and loading quality (incidents of damage or rework).
Safety compliance (number of incidents/near misses).
Efficiency in loading/unloading (average turnaround time per shipment).
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
1-3 years of experience in shipping/receiving, warehousing, or logistics.
Forklift license/certification (preferred or required depending on company policy).
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
Ability to lift, move, and handle materials safely.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
* Basic computer skills (ERP, inventory, or shipping software experience is an asset).
