Located in Surrey, B.C. Canada, Kadant designs and manufactures equipment for the panel and engineered wood products and sawmill industries. Providing leading edge technology and equipment to optimize fiber use for production of wood-based panels. Our products include SmartDISC stranders, SmartRING stranders, rotary debarkers, chippers and conveying/feeding equipment.

POSITION OVERVIEW:



The Shipper/Receiver will be part of the store's team managing the inflow and outflow of goods to/from the warehouse. The shipper/receiver will work closely with the Production Manager, Logistics team and Warehouse Supervisor.

The primary focus of the Shipper/Receiver is to load/unload shipments, review paperwork, inspect goods, report damage, stage goods and communicate when orders are ready for put-away for all incoming shipments.

RESPONSIBILITIES:



Load and unload all outgoing/incoming shipments via forklift trucks and overhead cranes. Review and confirm incoming shipments match the provided pack list and report all discrepancies. Confirm proper paperwork is completed for all outgoing shipments including pack lists, bill of lading, invoices etc and report all discrepancies. Scan all incoming shipments into Epicor ERP and move material to respective staging locations. Accurately photograph and document all incoming purchase orders for record-keeping and verification purposes Prepare and submit a detailed end-of-shift report that thoroughly captures all arrived but not received items and completion of other required end of shift tasks. Prioritize urgent deliveries and communicate progress to stores team. Identify and resolve issues as goods arrive, escalate when necessary. Limit the receiving backlog by ensuring that all incoming shipments are received within 48 hours. Safe use of warehouse equipment including forklifts, overhead cranes, and woodshop equipment. Engaging in continuous improvement measures to improve warehouse operations. Use effective written and oral communication to ensure that problems, both current and potential, are brought to management's attention, with appropriate suggestions for corrective action, immediately as situation arises. Always show professionalism and courtesy.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:



Minimum of 2 years experience as a shipper, receiver or in a warehouse capacity, Ability to work in a fast-paced environment shipping multiple packages a day with regular priority changes to meet customer demands. Ideal candidate will have drive to improve packaging process and speed. Experience with tools and equipment (table/vertical saws, nail/staple guns) to build crates & pallets. Experience with strapping and wrapping machines/tools to package goods. Ability to drive forklift trucks (ticketed) and to use overhead & jib cranes. Experience with MRP systems and/or scanning systems. Have a high attention to detail to ensure all packages contain the correct product and quantity per the customer sales order. Understanding of manufactured parts and best practices for packing manufactured goods an asset Be an outstanding team player and communicator. Work well with the KCD team on achieving on time deliveries, take direction from shipping and productions teams on daily priorities, be flexible to frequent customer requests. Possess strong computer skills (MS Office), ERP experience being an asset.
To be successful in this role, the receiver must be able to perform at a high level of accuracy in a fast-moving environment. The incumbent must be a team player, collaborative and must have a safety-first mindset.

Note that this position is a unionized role and is bound by a collective agreement.
