Work Arrangements
This temporary full-time (35 hours per week) position is available starting January 23, 2023 to July 28, 2023. Regular hours of work are Monday to Friday 8 am -4 pm. Shift days and times may change depending on the Department\'s need. Occasional evening and/or weekend work may be required. The position is located at the Coquitlam campus; however, successful candidate must be available for occasional work at the New Westminster campus. The Role
The Shipper Receiver provides critical logistics in support of College operations by organizing inbound receiving and outbound shipping and the mail system duties including processing, distribution, and dispatch of incoming and campus mail, outgoing mail, and parcel shipments in a timely and cost-efficient manner.
Processes College inventory accurately through the various computerized data bases. Provides exceptional client-centered service on a consistent basis to all stakeholder groups.
Responsibilities
1. Acts as the principal shipper and receiver for the College, including the Bookstore.
a. receives, inspects and logs incoming shipments checking for damage and for accuracy of count before sign-off, prints receiving reports. May require unpacking boxes to verify quantities and conformance to packing slips and purchase orders. Receives and distributes hazardous materials;
b. enters receiving information into the applicable computerized data base;
c. processes and distributes the resulting paperwork including receiving reports and claims;
d. consults with Purchasing Buyers to solve problems regarding purchase orders, discrepancies and returns;
e. maintains and secures the shipping, receiving and storage area in a safe and clean condition;
f. maintains the batteries on the pallet mover and fork lift;
g. maintains compactor and contacts various vendors for the coordination of garbage disposal, pick up of paper, lights & electronic recyclables and the collection and return of used Multi-Functional Device supplies;
h. coordinates postal, courier and freight services including packing and preparation of goods for transport, researching cost effective methods, preparing shipping / courier waybills for outgoing materials;
i. coordinates the transfer of materials and merchandise between campuses and off campus sites;
j. responds to inquiries regarding distribution and shipping. Researches and tracks missing shipments;
k. maintains accurate records of all materials management transactions;
l. plans and organizes work, manages competing priorities and meets deadlines with minimal supervision.
m. operates materials handling equipment including electrical and manual pallet.
2. Receives and dispatches College mail.
a. receives, sorts and distributes postal mail; re-addresses mail as necessary; sorts, meters and prepares all outgoing mail according to postal regulations; communicates with Canada Post;
b. operates a variety of mailroom equipment, including postage meter, sealer, letter opener, folder, etc.; maintains, monitors, and replenishes postage meter as necessary;
c. operates College van for pick-up and delivery to Canada Post and other locations;
d. picks up and delivers mail within the College building on a daily schedule;
e. records, calculates and provides the Finance Department with the postal usage by the various departments (DCFA, DCSS, Other Press etc.);
f. advises College employees on procedures regarding outgoing mail and parcels;
g. evaluates mail and parcel shipments to determine and utilize the most cost-effective means of service available;
h. compiles, calculates and submits meterage reports;
i. maintains accurate records and logs;
j. maintains the mail processing area keeping it clean and organized.
