About Us

Rockford Engineering Works Ltd. is a consulting and engineered-to-order equipment manufacturer. We design, build, and deliver heavy industrial equipment tailored to the unique needs of our clients across Saskatchewan and beyond, from first concept through fabrication, assembly, commissioning, and ongoing aftermarket support.

What sets Rockford apart is our ability to integrate everything under one roof. We combine mechanical, fluid power, electrical and automation engineering with in-house manufacturing and field support. This end-to-end approach ensures our designs can be built, maintained, and trusted to perform long after delivery.

At Rockford, you won't just be part of projects - you'll be part of delivering real machines that make an impact for our clients. We value excellence, accountability, and teamwork, and we provide opportunities for people to grow while contributing to challenging and meaningful work.

Position Overview

The Shipper/Receiver is responsible for accurately and efficiently handling all incoming and outgoing materials, kitting and staging parts for production, and supporting shipping logistics. This role is central to ensuring that production teams have the right parts, at the right place, at the right time. The ideal candidate combines strong organizational skills, attention to detail, positive attitude, and hands-on material handling experience with a commitment to safety and teamwork.

Key Responsibilities

Verify incoming deliveries against packing slips, purchase orders, and drawings for part numbers, quantities, and condition. Update receiving status in Rockford's system. Highlight received items on manufacturing drawings to track kit completeness. Report discrepancies or damaged goods to the Shop Foreman and Planning/Procurement.

Kitting & Material Preparation

Organize and group incoming parts into project kits. Stage kits in advance according to project and plant schedules. Proactively check for missing parts, ensuring kits are complete and clearly labeled.

Material Handling & Staging

Deliver kits and late-arriving parts to manufacturing cells as required. Maintain clean, organized staging areas free of clutter and mix-ups. Operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and other material handling equipment safely.

Shipping & Logistics

Prepare shipments with appropriate packaging (pallets, crates, protective wrapping). Create and attach labels, packing slips, and documentation. Coordinate carrier pickups and assist with loading shipments. Take photos of final packaged products for shipment records.

Documentation & Inventory

Maintain accurate records of shipments, receipts, packing slips, and tracking numbers. Support inventory counts, bin organization, and restocking of frequently used materials.

Quality, Safety & Compliance

Follow Rockford and OH&S safety policies at all times. Perform equipment checks, use safe rigging practices, and maintain PPE in good condition. Support quality control by reporting defects, discrepancies and materials issues promptly.

Qualifications

Grade 12 education or equivalent. Experience as a Shipper/Receiver, Warehouse Technician, or similar role in a manufacturing environment. Understanding of Lean processes and how they relate to engineered-to-order manufacturing. Forklift and/or overhead crane certification (or willingness to obtain). Strong organizational and time-management skills with attention to detail. Proficient computer skills (inventory software, spreadsheets, email). Ability to lift and handle heavy packages safely. Effective communication and teamwork skills. Valid class 5 driver's license. Certifications in logistics, supply chain, or related fields are considered an asset.

Equivalent combinations of education and experience that demonstrate the required knowledge and skills will be considered.

What We Offer

Competitive compensation and benefits package. Company matching pension program. On-site parking. Opportunity to play a critical role in supporting innovative manufacturing projects. Collaborative team environment focused on excellence and professional growth. * Career development through cross-training and skill building.
