RAM Elevators & Lifts Inc. is an industry leading, Edmonton-based manufacturer of residential and commercial elevators and accessibility lifts. Our team is looking to hire an organized and efficient individual to join our Shipping/Packaging department.

About the role



RAM's Shipping/Packaging department is the company's last line of defense in ensuring a positive experience for its customers. A product may be of high quality, but if it is not packaged correctly then the likelihood of it arriving damaged is high. Therefore, the Shipper/Packager department prides themselves on quality control and ensuring customers who are excited to receive their new Wheelchair Lift or Elevator receive it in great condition.

Daily, you will be meeting with the Shipping/Receiving Team Lead to develop a game plan of what needs to be packaged/shipped. You will then use a series of tools (nail guns, drills, hammers, ratchets) and materials (foam, bubble wrap, wood, OSB) to package different RAM products for shipping. While managing their time packaging, packagers are also responsible for receiving incoming materials into the building, counting that material, and getting it to the team leads. Lastly, Packagers are responsible for maintaining a clean and organized work area.

Responsibilities



Obtain freight quotes to optimize freight delivery and cost Prepare BOL and customs documents for outgoing shipments and required documentation for part returns Resolve all freight issues including reconsignments, damaged freight claims, customs clearance and delivery issues Negotiate freight rates and follow up any freight invoice issues with carriers Communicate with production and sales to determine daily shipping Communicate with customers to provide shipment information and resolve delivery issues Prepare products for shipment following established procedures for packaging including checking contents and labeling for accuracy Operate lift trucks, pallet jacks, and other equipment to move materials to proper locations and load and unload freight trucks Use software to record shipment information required to track, check status and prioritize shipments Inspect freight upon arrival, document any signs of damage, and resolve freight claims in a timely manner Verify receipt of purchased goods from suppliers, timely placement of delivered items, process paperwork and complete all necessary transactions according to established procedures Be capable of performing light equipment and building maintenance as required Supervise the shipping/receiving team Ensure that a safe working environment culture exists in the shipping/receiving department Maintain clean and organized shipping/receiving area and continually improve to increase efficiency

Qualifications



Previous experience in a similar role Valid forklift license preferred Knowledge of logistics procedures Experience in preparing shipping documents Experience in material handling and inventory procedures Excellent organizational and communication skills Attention to detail Problem-solving abilities Experience with shipping to US an asset
