Job Summary


The Shift Supervisor is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations of the concession or food service area during assigned shifts. This role ensures staff are productive, in uniform, and following company policies while delivering high-quality service to guests. The Shift Supervisor assists with food preparation, inventory management, and maintaining clean and safe work areas. Acting as a front-line leader, this position provides guidance, training, and support to staff, while upholding operational standards and enhancing the overall guest experience during events.

Key Responsibilities



Operational Support



Prepare concession and food service areas for operation, including setup, food preparation, and ensuring all stations are properly stocked and ready for service. Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system accurately to take orders, process payments, and ensure proper cash handling procedures are followed. Maintain cleanliness and organization of all work areas, including floors, equipment, utensils, and service ware, in accordance with health and safety standards. Collect and properly dispose of garbage and recycling in designated containers throughout the shift and during closing procedures.

Team Leadership & Supervision



Supervise concession staff during assigned shifts to ensure productivity, professionalism, and adherence to operational standards. Ensure all employees are in proper uniform and maintaining professional appearance in accordance with company policy. Monitor staff conduct to ensure employees are actively engaged in their duties and not using cell phones or engaging in non-work-related activities during work hours. Provide guidance, direction, and on-the-job training to staff to ensure efficient, high-quality service and adherence to company policies and procedures. Promote a positive, team-oriented work environment that supports respect, accountability, and collaboration.

Inventory & Compliance



Assist with inventory counts and restocking to ensure accurate records and adequate supplies for each event. Adhere to and enforce all food handling, sanitation, health, and workplace safety regulations.

Customer Service



Deliver prompt, courteous, and professional service to all guests. Address customer inquiries or concerns in a timely and effective manner, escalating issues to management when appropriate.

Additional Responsibilities



Perform other duties as assigned to support the successful operation of the concessions department and event services.

Required Qualifications



High school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience in food service, concessions, or hospitality preferred. Experience supervising or leading staff in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment is an asset. Food Handler Certification. Smart Serve Certification. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and some holidays. Physical ability to stand, walk, lift, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods during events.

Required Skills & Competencies



Ability to guide, motivate, and monitor staff, ensuring adherence to company policies, productivity standards, and professional conduct. Committed to providing friendly, efficient, and professional service to all guests. Clear and effective verbal communication with staff, management, and customers. Ability to prioritize tasks, multitask effectively, and ensure smooth operations throughout the shift. Ensure staff are in proper uniform, focused on duties, and compliant with company policies. Quickly identify and resolve operational or customer service issues. Experience with POS systems, cash handling, and basic inventory tracking. Knowledge of food handling, sanitation, and workplace safety requirements. Flexible and able to support various operational needs during high-volume events.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements



Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and some holidays, based on the event schedule. Work takes place in a fast-paced, high-energy environment, often with large crowds and continuous customer interaction. Must be able to stand, walk, and move throughout the work area for extended periods during shifts. Ability to lift, carry, or move items weighing up to 25-50 lbs, such as stock, supplies, or equipment. Exposure to varying temperatures, including warm conditions in food service areas and cooler arena environments. Ability to work in noisy and crowded conditions typical of sporting and entertainment events. Occasional extended hours may be required for event setup, operation, and cleanup. Must be able to maintain focus and supervise staff, ensuring productivity, professionalism, and adherence to company policies during all shifts.
