Trans Mountain operates Canada\xe2\x80\x99s only pipeline system transporting oil products to the West Coast. We deliver approximately 300,000 barrels of petroleum products each day through 1,150 kilometres of pipeline in Alberta and British Columbia, and 111 kilometres of pipeline in Washington state.
As a Shift Supervisor with Trans Mountain, you\xe2\x80\x99ll have the opportunity to work with a progressive and fast-paced group of experts within Burnaby/Westridge Terminal Operations. This position reports directly to the Manager Burnaby Terminal and Westridge Marine Terminals and is based at our Burnaby/Westridge Terminal location. This role is responsible for developing and leading a well-trained and competent team of field operations staff and contractors to ensure a safe, reliable, compliant, and efficient operation at Burnaby and Westridge (Marine) Terminals.
Key Responsibilities
  • Supervises, by providing oversight and leadership, a high functioning team of field operations staff during assigned rotating 12-hour shifts at the Burnaby and Westridge Terminals.
  • Ensures regulatory compliance requirements for areas of responsibility are met and achieves high productivity levels safely, efficiently, reliably, and with minimum service disruptions due to unplanned downtime.
  • Supervises, by providing oversight and leadership with Emergency Management initiatives and response at Burnaby and Westridge Terminals
  • Participates in developing training material and facilitates training and completion of competencies for Burnaby and Westridge field staff (employees and contractors) as necessary or directed by the manager. Identifies and arranges training for direct reports.
  • Responsible for the budgeting and cost forecasting for the area of responsibility.
  • Provides supervisory support to direct reports including the approval of travel & expenses, timesheets, vacations, and performance reviews.
  • Works collaboratively with TMCI colleagues across districts and departments. Provides guidance and support on subject matter expertise to others when required or requested to do so.
  • Undertakes high degree of communications: Internal and External. Conducts regular staff meetings focusing on safety, operations, compliance, etc.; Interacts with external stakeholders as required.
  • Assists in developing the Integrated Safety and Loss Management System (ISLMS) documentation including Goals, Objectives and Targets, the Internal Communication Plan, External Communication Plan, Document and Records Management, Human Resources Plan, and the Dashboard.

Qualifications and Professional Experience
  • Minimum of 10 years of working experience in an industrial plant operation setting.
  • Prior experience in a leadership role would be preferred.
  • Technical Diploma (Electrical & Instrumental, Mechanical) and/or a Journeyman trade certification and/or Engineering certification would be considered an asset.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Training on leadership and conflict resolution.
  • Able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and requirements for Operations/Emergency Response work.
  • Demonstrated fluency with administrative processes and technology tools, including EAM (Enterprise Asset Maintenance), Microsoft Office, and PIMs (Capital Asset Management).
  • Incident Command training, level ICS 300 would be considered an asset
  • Must have a valid driver\xe2\x80\x99s license.

Trans Mountain also operates through 15 First Nation Reserves located within the region spanning the BC interior through Fraser Valley.
