Job Description


PAQ is an indigenous organization that supports First Nations, Inuit and M\xc3\xa9tis people facing housing insecurity in Tio\'ti\xc3\xa0: ke / Montreal. Using a culturally appropriate approach based on empowerment and harm reduction, we provide housing options, accommodation and services that promote wellness and healing, and strengthen community. We work in partnership with others to promote the health and housing rights of urban Indigenous peoples. To strengthen our intervention team, we are recruiting experienced intervention workers for weekends. PAQ will provide training. The monthly work schedule is released two weeks prior to the start of the month, but the ability to also work on call is helpful. Responsibilities: Under the supervision of the Manager of Programs and Services:

  • Welcomes and admits indigenous women and men wishing to stay at the PAQ shelter.
  • Provides support and intervention tailored to the needs of participants.
  • Facilitates and promotes group living and a sense of community with participants.
  • Maintains the stability, safety and cleanliness of the facility and ensures compliance with PAQ regulations.
  • Serves meals and ensures the smooth operation of the community room.
  • Responds to crisis or emergency situations and meets the needs of residents according to PAQ procedures and services.
  • Completes relevant documents, statistics and reports.
  • Coordinates housekeeping duties of participants to ensure cleanliness of the facility.
  • Participates in team meetings and trainings.
  • Provide schedule flexibility and be available to work substitute shifts.
  • Performs any other duties as assigned by the Service Coordinator or Team Leader as necessary.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of six months experience in intervention, social work or similar helping relationship related fields.
  • Experience living or working with indigenous communities or individuals.
  • Experience working or volunteering with people who are homeless, have addictions or mental health issues is a strong asset.
  • Bilingualism (functional English and French) + indigenous languages is an asset.

  • First aid certification is an asset.
Schedule:
  • Shifts available on Saturdays and Sundays: Day (8 am - 4 pm); Evening (4 pm - 12 am); Overnight (12 am - 8 am)
Salary: - $24/hour - day and evening shifts - $26.50/hour - overnight Other Benefits:
  • Group insurance for full-time employees (35 hours/week)
