Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced
Sheet Metal Estimator / Project Coordinator
to join our growing team. This role combines estimating responsibilities with project coordination to ensure sheet metal projects are accurately priced, well-organized, and executed on time. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, collaborative, and eager to contribute to the success of industrial and commercial projects across the region.
Key Responsibilities
Estimating
Review drawings, specifications, and tender documents to develop accurate estimates.
Conduct material take-offs and determine labour, equipment, and subcontractor requirements.
Prepare competitive proposals and bid submissions within deadlines.
Communicate with vendors and suppliers to secure pricing and availability.
Support clients and internal teams with value engineering and alternative design options.
Project Coordination
Assist in planning, scheduling, and resource allocation for sheet metal projects.
Coordinate with fabrication shops, field supervisors, and tradespeople to ensure timely delivery of materials and execution of work.
Track project progress and report updates to stakeholders.
Maintain project documentation, including change orders, RFIs, and budgets.
Identify risks and assist project managers in resolving issues to keep projects on schedule.
Qualifications
3-5 years of experience in sheet metal estimating and/or project coordination (industrial or commercial construction preferred).
Strong knowledge of sheet metal fabrication, installation practices, and industry standards.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with estimating software (Accubid, Bluebeam, or similar) is an asset.
Excellent communication, organizational, and multitasking skills.
Strong problem-solving abilities and a collaborative mindset.
Preferred Skills
Licensed Sheet Metal Technician or mechanical engineering background would be an asset, but not mandatory Familiarity with health & safety practices in industrial construction.
Experience working with unionized trades.
