About the Role:
We are seeking experienced SharePoint Developers to support the migration of our legacy SharePoint 2010 environment to SharePoint Online (Microsoft 365). This is an independent contractor role. The successful candidate(s) will provide services under a contract agreement. This engagement is ideal for professionals with hands-on experience in SharePoint migrations, modernization of classic sites, and development/customization in both on-premise and cloud environments.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and assess the current SharePoint 2010 environment, including custom solutions, workflows, and site structures.
  • Plan and execute the migration to SharePoint Online using tools such as ShareGate or Microsoft Migration Tool.
  • Rebuild or refactor legacy components using modern SharePoint Online frameworks (SPFx, Power Automate, etc.).
  • Design and develop a custom import service to automate the continuous migration of scanned forms, reports and accompanying metadata from on-premise storage to the applicable SharePoint Online document libraries based on content type.
  • Ensure metadata mapping, document classification, and compliance with organizational taxonomy and retention policies.
  • Develop code to search and display cheque images pulled in real-time from Central1 (Credit Union Central of British Columbia) on the SharePoint Online site.
  • Collaborate with IT and business stakeholders to ensure smooth migration and integration.
  • Conduct unit testing, support UAT and provide documentation, training, and post-migration support.
  • Address performance, security and reliability considerations throughout the solution lifecycle.
Required Skills & Experience:
  • Strong experience in C#, and .NET platform.
  • Proven experience with SharePoint Framework (SPFx), SharePoint Client-Side Object Model (CSOM), Azure pipelines, PowerShell scripting, and Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps).
  • Experience with PnP web parts and handlebar expressions.
  • Experience building custom services or applications for document ingestion and metadata handling.
  • Familiarity with document management best practices, including metadata tagging, content types, and retention policies.
  • Experience with InfoPath forms and their modernization or replacement strategies.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Microsoft certifications in SharePoint or Microsoft 365.
  • Experience with OpenID Connect (OIDC) authentication protocol, Azure Functions, Logic Apps, or other automation tools for building import services.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
The hourly rate for this role will be approximately $100 per hour.
