Overview



Rock Info Tech is seeking an experienced SharePoint Consultant to support a focused engagement for one of our leading clients. The consultant will lead a SharePoint initiative that includes migration planning, information architecture and site design, governance setup, and staff enablement.

The engagement is intended to establish a clean, scalable SharePoint foundation that supports collaboration and long-term adoption.

Work location & availability



Must be located in Calgary, Alberta Comfortable spending the majority of the engagement on-site Work will take place primarily at the client's downtown Calgary office Some flexibility for remote work may be available for focused tasks

Engagement objectives



Lead a structured migration to SharePoint Online Design and implement a clear, scalable SharePoint site structure Establish governance, permissions, and content management standards Support change management and staff training Deliver documentation and recommendations for ongoing use

Key responsibilities:



SharePoint migration & planning



Plan and execute a SharePoint Online migration from existing file storage or collaboration tools Assess current content, folder structures, and usage patterns Identify redundant, outdated, or low-value content and recommend archiving or cleanup Define migration scope, sequencing, and validation steps Coordinate migration activities with stakeholders

Information architecture & site design



Design SharePoint site structures, hub sites, document libraries, and navigation Define metadata, content types, and naming conventions Ensure structures are intuitive, scalable, and aligned with business workflows

Governance, permissions & administration



Define SharePoint governance standards, including site ownership and permissions models Configure and validate permissions across sites and libraries Establish best practices for document lifecycle management and content hygiene Support light SharePoint administration related to the rollout Provide guidance and documentation for ongoing administration

Microsoft 365 & platform integration



Configure and optimize SharePoint Online within Microsoft 365 Align SharePoint usage with Teams, OneDrive, and Outlook where appropriate Experience with Dynamics 365 and other Microsoft business platforms is a strong asset Support light automation or workflows using Power Automate, where relevant

Project management & delivery



Own day-to-day delivery of the SharePoint engagement within the four-week timeline Track tasks, milestones, and progress Communicate clearly with stakeholders and adjust plans as needed

Training, adoption & change management



Deliver role-based training sessions for staff and site owners Create concise user guides and internal documentation Support adoption by simplifying workflows and improving usability

Post-migration support & continuity



Provide short post-migration stabilization support Address early user issues and adoption questions Review early usage patterns and recommend adjustments There may be an opportunity for ongoing SharePoint administration and support following the project

Required skills & experience



Proven experience leading SharePoint Online migrations Strong hands-on experience building SharePoint sites and document libraries Deep knowledge of Microsoft 365 (SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive) Strong understanding of governance, permissions, and information architecture Ability to manage a focused engagement independently Strong communication and documentation skills

Nice-to-have experience



Experience with Dynamics 365 Familiarity with the Microsoft Power Platform Experience providing ongoing SharePoint administration and user support Experience supporting user adoption or organizational change initiatives

Engagement requirements



This role is intended for an individual consultant Applications from companies, agencies, or MSPs will not be considered
Job Type: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 4 weeks

Pay: $45.00-$75.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 - 40 per week
