Job Title: SharePoint Analyst
Project Name: Ministry Intranet Modernization
Location: Primarily Remote (within Canada)
Client: Government of Alberta
Start Date: August 2025 (Interviews: August 14 15, 2025)
Work Hours: 08:15 16:30 (Alberta time), Monday Friday
Project Overview:
The Government of Alberta is modernizing all ministry intranet platforms, migrating from SharePoint 2016 to SharePoint Online. As part of the M365 and SharePoint Online Migration Project, the SharePoint Analyst will design, develop, and migrate intranet content, enhancing usability, user experience, and visual appeal. This includes working collaboratively with communication teams, stakeholders, and end users to create optimized, responsive, and user-centric sites.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and build responsive SharePoint Online intranet pages aligned with UX/UI best practices and GoA branding.
  • Gather requirements from stakeholders and translate business needs into functional SharePoint solutions.
  • Migrate existing intranet content into modern SharePoint Online structures and templates.
  • Customize SharePoint components (web parts, lists, libraries, themes, and workflows).
  • Optimize site navigation, content structure, and user journeys to enhance usability.
  • Implement and maintain content governance, automation, and publishing workflows.
  • Troubleshoot SharePoint issues, perform root cause analysis, and resolve performance or system errors.
  • Provide 1st and 2nd level technical support and develop documentation, training guides, and user materials.
  • Collaborate with GoA technical teams to ensure seamless integration and implementation.
  • Participate in testing, quality assurance, and validation activities.
  • Stay informed on emerging trends, technologies, and SharePoint/M365 best practices.
Mandatory Qualifications:
  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience with Microsoft SharePoint, including SharePoint Online.
  • 2+ years in SharePoint Site Collection Administration.
  • 2+ years of experience with ShareGate for content migration and reporting.
  • Experience troubleshooting SharePoint workflows and forms.
  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and front-end frameworks.
  • Strong skills in user-centered design and content structuring.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
  • Experience developing SharePoint technical and design specifications.
  • PowerShell scripting for SharePoint feature management.
  • Experience with SharePoint Central Administration and admin portals.
  • Familiarity with GoA's IT/IM practices and standards.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite or similar design tools.
  • Experience with branding and customization of SharePoint themes and templates.
