Verify dimensions of parts machined using precise measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers) Read and interpret specifications or follow verbal instructions Place metal pieces in furnace Clean and lubricate machinery and equipment Check products for correct shapes, dimensions and other specifications Lay out, set up and operate one or more light or heavy metalworking machines Document work completed Read blueprints and drawings Set up, maintain and make minor repairs to machinery
