The RBC Convention Centre invites applications for the following position:

Set-Up, Full-Time

(Swing Shift - variable hours: days, evenings, overnights, weekends, holidays, with shift premiums paid for evening and overnight shifts)

Reporting to the Manager, Facility Services, the Set-Up team is responsible for the set-up and tear-down of equipment and furnishings for events according to client expectations. Upon completion of a function, the team is also responsible for ensuring the venue is returned to its original state or preparing the venue for the next scheduled event.

Set-up Responsibilities:

Set up and tear down of furniture, tables, chairs, dance floors and equipment (podiums, stages) according to the event order and/or directions from lead hand Arrange event space using pipe and drape and/or moving walls to reconfigure rooms Acknowledge and respond promptly to any guest requests; communicating any special instructions to appropriate department manager and/or event coordinator Observe all safety and quality guidelines; wear PPE as required

Set-up Requirements:

Ability to meet the physical demands of the job; standing and walking for extended periods of time, lifting, pulling, pushing, and carrying heavy equipment in a safe manner Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions Candidate must be able to work varied shifts, including early mornings, afternoons, overnights, weekends, and holidays Good interpersonal, communication, and guest service skills Forklift certification is an asset Applicant must be legally entitled to work in Canada. Continued employment is subject to maintaining legal eligibility to work in Canada.
This is a scheduled position with salary in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Convention Centre Corportion and the Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 500.
