Job Summary


As the first point of contact for individuals seeking support with settlement and integration, you will conduct comprehensive intake assessments, offer tailored guidance, and connect clients to appropriate resources that support their transition. This role demands strong communication skills, cultural sensitivity, and a thorough understanding of the settlement process to effectively empower individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Core Position Responsibilities

Client Engagement and Support

Conduct initial intake interviews to assess clients' needs, strengths, and challenges Gather and document relevant information to create comprehensive client profiles Identify and prioritize clients' immediate and long-term needs Offer empathetic and culturally sensitive counseling to help clients address settlement-related challenges Develop and implement individualized action plans in collaboration with clients Monitor and evaluate client progress and adjust plans as needed Regularly check in with clients to ensure their needs are being met and they are satisfied with the services provided Collect and analyze client feedback to identify areas for improvement in service delivery Implement strategies to enhance client satisfaction and retention, including personalized follow-ups and addressing any concerns or issues promptly Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients to encourage ongoing engagement and support

Resource Navigation and Referral

Provide clients with information about available services, resources, and programs Facilitate referrals to appropriate internal and external services, including schooling, housing, employment, and health services Assist clients in navigating and accessing community resources and support systems

Documentation, Reporting, and Compliance

Maintain accurate and confidential client records and documentation Prepare reports and summaries as required by organizational policies and funders Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and confidentiality agreements Act as a liaison between all departments to ensure seamless communication and coordination Keep up to date with best practices and procedures

Collaboration and Professional Development

Work closely with other MAGMA team members to ensure coordinated and holistic support for clients Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development opportunities Collaborate with community organizations, service providers, and stakeholders to enhance client support

Required Skills & Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary certification in Social Work, Counseling, Human Services, Customer Service, or a related field is preferred Experience in a client-facing role, ideally within community services, non-profit, or settlement sectors Strong client service orientation, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, stay organized, and perform well under pressure Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and comfortable with database systems Skilled in researching and verifying accurate information Demonstrates integrity, professionalism, and discretion when handling sensitive information; able to provide a valid criminal record check Collaborative team player who fosters consensus and resolves conflicts constructively
