Concerned primarily with drug-induced diseases, this lecture course provides students with a conceptual framework for understanding the broad spectrum of toxicological problems encountered in clinical practice, in drug development and regulation, and in medical research. Central biochemical mechanisms and the relevance of clinical factors to toxicological expression will be integrated and applied to illustrative models of drug-related diseases in humans.

Salary:

$9,820.7, including 4% vacation pay for sole course coordination. Rate will be prorated for co-coordination. Based on 2025 CUPE Unit 3 Sessional Instructor rate

Minimum qualifications:

Applicants should at a minimum, possess an MSc or PhD and familiarity with content area including:

Mechanisms of toxicity Modulators of toxicity Toxicological evaluation Hepatic toxicology Chemical teratogenesis Neurodegeneration Immunological toxicology Chemical carcinogenesis Renal toxicology

Mastery may be demonstrated, but not limited to scholarly publications establishing expertise in the area. Demonstrated knowledge and practice of equity, diversity and inclusion required.

Preferred qualifications:



Previous Prior experience teaching material covered in PHM340. Knowledge of the Quercus platform for online course delivery is required and experience in online teaching is an asset. Teaching or TA experience in course with similar content.

Description of duties:



The need to acquire experience is the more relevant criterion than previous experience in respect of this posted position.

Teaching and developing up to 6 hours of content Coordinating teaching assistants, midterm(s), and final exam marking. Coordinating guest lecturers, midterm(s), and final exam marking. All normal duties related to the design and teaching of a University credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content and assessments; providing a list of relevant reading materials. Prepare, organize, and delivery of course material, preparation and delivery of assignments; be available to students seeking assistance between classes; evaluate and provide students with feedback on their work.

Duties of this position shall be performed at the campus on which the position is located.
