: Sessional Lecturer I (1 position available)

Course title and code

: Renewal of Waterpower Facilities - APS1411H

Course description

: Infrastructure is both aging and being repurposed. This course looks at how the design of waterpower dams, structures and equipment has been shaped by technological change over time. Students will learn to analyze the upgrade potential of an existing plant; review the tools and data available to understand site condition and to be aware of modernization scope for structures and equipment in the context of environmental, social, technical and economic decision making.

Class schedule

: One two-hour lecture per week; timetable to be determined.

Sessional date of appointment

: Winter Session Jan - Apr 2026.

Salary:

Minimum level of pay is $9,820.7 (Sessional Lecturer I), which includes vacation pay, and may increase depending on applicant's level of experience and suitability for the position.

Qualifications

: A postgraduate degree in engineering is required. Experience with and understanding of waterpower facilities. Experience teaching APS1411 or similar course in past.

Brief description of duties

: Duties include: preparation of lectures and course materials for delivery; delivery of lectures; possible supervision of Teaching Assistants; setting and marking of projects, tests and exams; evaluation of final grades; contact with students. Course is taught online.
