Course number and title: Sessional Lecturer - PHY1610HS - Scientific Computing for Physicists (0.5 FCE)
Course description: Scientific Computing is a graduate course on research computing, covering techniques and methods for reliable and efficient computational programming. It includes best practices for developing software as it applies to scientific computations, common numerical techniques and packages, and aspects of high performance computing. Topics include modelling, floating point computations, molecular dynamics, fast Fourier transforms, solving partial differential equations, parallel programming concepts, and hybrid programming. Students are required to have some programming experience in a compiled language (Fortran, C, C++). The course uses C++ as the programming language.
Estimated course enrolment: 30 students
Estimated TA support: TBA hours (contingent upon enrolment)
Class schedule (Lectures): Tuesday 11:00am-12:00pm; Thursday 11:00am-12:00pm

Sessional Lecturer I Long Term: $9,930.79
Sessional Lecturer II: $10,121.77
Sessional Lecturer II Long Term: $10,326.62
Sessional Lecturer III: $10,362.76
Sessional Lecturer III Long Term: $10,570.02
Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.
