Course Description:

An introduction to set theory emphasizing its philosophical relevance as a unifying framework for mathematics and logic. Topics examined may include the paradoxes of the 'naive' conception of sets and their resolution through axiomatization, the construction of natural numbers and real numbers in set theory, equivalents of the axiom of choice, and model theory.

: Sessional Lecturer I - $9,820.70; Sessional Lecturer I Long Term - $10,510.04; Sessional Lecturer II - $10,510.04; Sessional Lecture II Long Term - $10,760.28; Sessional Lecturer III - $10,760.28; Sessional Lecturer III Long Term - $11,030,36.

Minimum Qualifications

: Ph.D. in philosophy (or related); strong academic record and professional promise; ongoing research and scholarly publications in the field; relevant and recent teaching experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to applicants who have clearly demonstrated teaching excellence in the subject matter.

Description of Duties

: All normal duties related to the design and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content; development, administration and marking of assignments; calculation and submission of grades and holding office hours.
