Course Description:




The course builds on MGEB01H3 or MGEB02H3 by exposing students to the economics of market structure and pricing. How and why certain market structures, such as monopoly, oligopoly, perfect competition, etc., arise. Attention will also be given to how market structure, firm size and performance and pricing relate. Role of government will be discussed.Note: This course may be applied to the C-level course requirements of the Minor Program in Economics for Management Studies. It may not, however, be used to meet the requirements of any program that leads to a B.B.A. or of the Major Program in Economics for Management Studies.

Qualifications:




Minimum qualifications: The candidate is expected to be of superior teaching ability, with suitable academic and/or professional qualifications (Ph.D. or Ph.D. candidacy in economics) and mastery of the subject matter. The successful applicant will have clearly demonstrated teaching excellence in the subject matter through previous experience teaching this or similar courses, the ability to engage diverse learners, strong organizational and communication skills, and experience with relevant learning technologies and online teaching platforms.


Preferred qualifications: In addition to the minimum, the successful applicant will have significant experience in applying the subject matter in a practical environment, an academic record of recent research in the area covered by the course, including peer-reviewed publications in academic journals.

Duties:




All normal duties related to the design and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content; development, administration, and marking of assignments, tests, and exams; calculation and submission of grades, holding regular office hours, and maintaining reasonable availability for student and administrative contact, supervision of T.A. assigned to course.

Salary for a half-course (0.50 FCEs) inclusive of vacation pay

: The Sessional Lecturer I rate of pay will be $9,820.70. Sessional Lecturer I-Long Term rate of pay will be $10,510.04. Sessional Lecturer II rate of pay will be $10,510.04. Sessional Lecturer II-Long Term rate of pay will be $10,760.28. Sessional Lecturer III rate of pay will be $10,760.28. Sessional Lecturer III-Long Term rate of pay will be $11,030.36.
