Course description:




This course provides an overview of the history, philosophy and evolution of mental health and well-being services for students in post-secondary education. Students in this course will engage in an exploration of the history of mental health services for post-secondary students in Canada and other countries, paying particular attention to the history and influence of charter and framework development on the implementation of mental health services more broadly. The themes that run through all course topics include addressing barriers to equitable access to student mental health services, social determinants of health, social justice, policy development, resource allocation, collaboration and a shared approach to student mental health and well-being.

Minimum qualifications:




Candidates must hold a doctorate in Higher Education or a related field; have a demonstrated record of scholarship in the field of Higher Education and mental health and well-being policies in a post-secondary setting; have practical experience related to the topic of the course in a post-secondary institution; and have teaching experience in the subject area of the course.

Prepare, organize, and lead this graduate half course; be available to students seeking assistance between classes; and evaluate student work and provide students with feedback.
