Applied Lab Instruction for JRN 200. In this course students learn the process of generating, pitching, researching, writing, editing and publishing stories for printed and on-line publications. With this weekly lab, it focuses on fundamentals and principles for gathering, assembling and producing accurate, timely news stories with headlines, photographs, cutlines, and social media according to Canadian Press style.
Position Requirements
The successful candidate will teach the independent and critical practice of print/

digital journalism and essential skills to become a successful journalist.



Preference will be given to applicants with demonstrated effectiveness in teaching

journalism studies, recent and relevant professional experience, and those with

practical experience and knowledge in print and multimedia. Knowledge of news

production is expected. Applicants must hold at least a Bachelor of Journalism

degree or equivalent in a related discipline. A Master of Journalism degree is

preferred.



The School of Journalism defines "recent and relevant professional experience" as

working experience in the field of journalism within the last four years, and a

minimum of three years of professional experience in the specific medium or method

applicable to the course.



The successful applicant must have excellent communication skills, comprehensive

knowledge of journalistic practices and a demonstrated commitment and enthusiasm

for teaching.
